Lane Cove Sporting Clubs Registration 2022

It’s that time of the year when school starts back and your child (or you) wants to be involved in Saturday or Sunday sports. Here’s the low-down on how to get involved with a Lane Cove Sport Club.

This year the first thing you should do is apply for your Active Kids Voucher. The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year.

Voucher 1 is valid from January to December and Voucher 2 is valid from July to December.

AFL Juniors

Training sessions usually starts 4-5 weeks before the season commences. Most will be held at Steve Chisholm Oval (Blackman Park B3/4) on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday afternoon (depending on your team or age group).

For the 2022 season, pre-season training will commence in early February. The sessions start in the late afternoon, with the exact time determined by each team. They consist of some craftwork and a general warm-up. Then each age group will be broken up and trained by their respective coaching team.

The sessions usually last around 1-1.5 hours.

The Season starts on Sunday (9 April). All home games will be at Blackman Park on Sunday mornings, with several Friday night games also in store.

We play in the AFL Sydney Junior Harbour North league. Ages groups from Under 9 upwards are entered.

There is also an agreement with neighbouring clubs to combine players if numbers are insufficient for additional teams in that age group. This could mean training times are slightly different than mentioned above.

Play Safe

If you or your child is playing sport, make sure you invest in a Mouth Guard.

Did you know more than 5 million teeth are knocked out during sporting activities every year? What is even worse is that it’s estimated between 30% and 50% of these injuries could have been prevented or would have been less severe had a mouthguard been worn.

Find out more here about mouthguards from
