Kumon Lane Cove
At Kumon, we personalise each student’s program, right from the beginning. Students begin study at a level that allows them to build self-confidence from day one, and progress according to their ability rather than their age. Over time, our students develop the study habits, attitude and skills that will allow them to study advanced material confidently and independently.
Kumon has operated in Lane Cove for over 30 years, and is run by local mum (and ex-Kumon Student) Sheryl Lee. We are constantly adjusting our centre to ensure the safety of our students, staff and the local community. Families can study with us in person, online, or via correspondence – choose the system that suits your family best!
Find out more about the Kumon Method of Learning by watching our introductory video (kumonglobal.com/kumon-a-foundation-for-the-future/) or booking an Orientation Meeting directly with Sheryl at [email protected].
Do you know that Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world (by native speakers)?
Research shows that learning a second language boosts problem-solving, critical-thinking, and listening skills, in addition to improving memory, concentration, and the ability to multitask. Children proficient in other languages also show signs of enhanced creativity and mental flexibility.
Our online sessions are very interactive and engaging!
We conducted a survey and 62% of our students prefer online learning rather than face-to-face
What our student’s parents say:
“Your zoom classes have been fantastic. The teacher keeps the children engaged and focused throughout the class”
“We would love to try F2F lessons, however the online versions – which is all we know – are very effective I particularly appreciate the small class sizes and the fact that everyone has a turn to practice. Keep up the wonderful work!”

AFTER SCHOOL CARE
The Blue Umbrella – Currambena OOSH
A little haven tucked away where kids run around barefoot, climb trees, play freely with whats around them, eat where they choose and are truly drivers in their own educational experiences.
The Blue Umbrella is a parent-run, not-for-profit Out Of School Hours service established in 2016 and run in the beautiful grounds of Currambena Pre-school and Primary. We offer after school care and vacation care to the families of the school and to the wider community. We have a license limit of 30 children in each session and an age range of 3 years upwards, this means we are just like a big family! We have a strong belief that their time is not an extension of the school day but that the children are absolutely free to do whatever their imaginations desire.
We have a dedicated space within the schools main building equipped with a small library and reading corner, enough craft supplies to satisfy the most creative of makers and a fully functioning kitchen. But our biggest resource is the glorious, natural environments within the grounds that allow the children’s curiosity and imagination to run wild and their spirits to soar. Sandpit, tree houses/cubbies, veggie and flower gardens, chickens free roaming, an awesome tunnel slide and a variety of terrains, all to keep their curious minds occupied and challenge without them even realising.
At The Blue Umbrella the children interact in mixed age groups with the ‘elders’ leading the way for the younger children. This enables everyone in the group to feel safe, accepted and most importantly have fun!

It is a good idea to get your child’s eyes tested for start of the school term (particularly if you or your partner wear glasses). Eyes 4 You is the place to go.
If you or your child is playing sport, make sure you invest in a Mouth Guard.
Did you know more than 5 million teeth are knocked out during sporting activities every year? What is even worse is that it’s estimated between 30% and 50% of these injuries could have been prevented or would have been less severe had a mouthguard been worn.
Lane Cove Family Dental
The first “regular” dental visit should be just after your child’s second birthday. The first dental visit is usually short and involves very little treatment. We may ask you to sit in the dental chair and hold your child during the examination.
We will gently examine your child’s teeth and gums. X-rays may be taken (to reveal decay and check on the progress of your child’s permanent teeth under the gums). We may clean your child’s teeth and apply topical fluoride to help protect the teeth against decay. We will make sure your child is receiving adequate fluoride at home. Most important of all, we will review with you how to clean and care for your child’s teeth.
Open Late nights and Weekends. You can contact us on Lane Cove Family Dentist Phone Number 02-9418-6102 (BUSINESS & AFTER HOURS) or email us at [email protected] . For online booking, please click here.
