Daylight Robbery at Stedmans Fine Jewellery Lane Cove Plaza

At around 3.30 pm on Easter Thursday, 28 March 2024, emergency services, including the NSW Police, were called to investigate a report of armed robbery at Stedmans Fine Jewellery.

    Eyewitness Reports

Several Eyewitnesses spoke to ITC and told us that they saw two “burley” men dressed in black with black surgical masks and black gloves run into Stedmans Fine Jewellery at around 3.30 pm.

Julia,an eyewitness, told ITC she heard screams and then ran to investigate the source of the screams; she saw two men running from the shop and heading towards The Canopy.  Another eyewitness told us they saw the men get into a silver car that was idling in the L J Hooker Lane Cove car park (the car was facing towards Rosenthal Lane).

There have been unconfirmed reports that one of the owners was struck in the face.  The statement below from the NSW Police Media Unit confirms that one of the men was carrying a firearm.

Stedmans Fine Jewellery stock is protected by locked security glass; the men were only able to grab one piece of jewellery.

    NSW Police Media Report

The following statement was issued by NSW Police Media:

“At about 3.30 pm yesterday (Thursday, 28 March 2024), emergency services were called to a business at Birdwood Lane, Lane Cove, following reports of an armed robbery.

On arrival, officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command were told two males wearing dark clothing and face coverings – one carrying a firearm – had entered the business and threatened staff before taking an item.

It is believed the males left in a silver Holden sedan which was parked nearby.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information into the incident or dashcam footage is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
