The Lane Cove Festival September 2024

Get ready for a busy September in Lane Cove with the Lane Cove Festival.

This month-long festival features community and Lane Cove Council-run initiatives including live music, film screenings, talks, walks and workshops.

There are exciting and diverse events that will keep you out of the house and celebrating community life.  This year, there is something for everyone.

The festival includes your favourite events (such as The Lane Cove Fun Run and the Big Family Fun Ride).  The events are broadly categorised as follows:

Lane Cove Festival Launch Event

It all starts with the Lane Cove Festival Launch Party in the Lane Cove Plaza on Friday, 30th August, from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm in Lane Cove Plaza.

There will be an afternoon of fun and excitement in Lane Cove Plaza. This family-friendly event welcomes the community to the heart of Lane Cove with children’s activities including a craft workshop, roving perfomers and musical performances.

Cameraygal Week 1st – 7th September

Cameraygal Week takes place in the first week of September to celebrate the traditional owners of the land which is now known as Lane Cove.

There are a number of events including a guided walk at Blackman Park to learn more about the Aboriginal heritage of the area, and a Weaving With Weeds session.

Walking Country

Join Karen Smith from the Aboriginal Heritage Office on a short accessible walk and talk with. A wonderful opportunity to gain insights into local Aboriginal heritage of the Cameraygal and Wallumedegal people, their culture, spirituality, language and connection to Country.

Gallery Lane Cove + Lane Cove Art Society Present: The Lane Cove Art Award

The Lane Cove Art Award is open to all Australian residents, and is supported by Lane Cove Council in conjunction with the Lane Cove Art Society. This exhibition comprises of the works from the finalists of the award.

Join them for opening night – meet the artists and hear the winners announced

Shinnyo-en Buddhist Temple Open Day

Shinnyo-en believes their simple daily actions of kindness are the first step towards peace and harmony. Join us in participating in the Higan Equinox Service. Experience the resonance of chanting, short meditation, and words of wisdom from Her Holiness Keishu Shinso Ito with light refreshments and informal discussion afterwards.

Spring is the perfect time for you to get out and about and explore some of Lane Cove’s beautiful bushwalks on your own or with family and friends:

Manns Point Lookout to Greenwich Baths, Greenwich

500m, 10mins. Grade: Moderately easy

Access to walk: From Prospect Street, Greenwich or Greenwich Sailing Club car park.

Shell Park to Greenwich Point, Greenwich

800m, 20mins. Grade: Easy

Access to walk: From Greenwich Road (northern end) or Greenwich Point Ferry Wharf, Lower Serpentine Rd (southern end).

Tambourine Bay Reserve to Warraroon Reserve, Riverview

1.5km, 40mins. Grade: Moderately easy

Access to walk: Main access is from Tambourine Bay Park, end of Tambourine Bay Road, Riverview.

The Big Family Fun Ride

The Big Family Fun Ride is back in 2024. This popular family event will start at Blackman Park this year.

Make sure you’re wearing your dancing and cycling shoes as you groove along with local DJ Nacho Pop, who is bringing a disco on a bike!

Join the party as you cycle around Blackman Park, singing and dancing from 11:00 a.m.

Revolve Recycling will check your bike from 10:00 a.m. At the Revolve Recycling collection point, you can even donate your pre-loved bike to someone else to love.

Kids can test their cycling skills on the obstacle course, hunt for clues on the cycle scavenger hunt, and unleash some creativity by decorating their helmet and bike with Pedal Set Go from 10:00 a.m. Everyone can also tuck into a sausage sandwich.  Register here.
