Meet Lane Cove’s Internationally Acclaimed Musician and Local Music School Owner – Cardinia

A little while ago, ITC had the opportunity to sit down with Cardinia, the owner of Treblemakers Academy, an ITC business sponsor. What ITC did not know at the time was that Cardinia is an internationally acclaimed electronic violinist who has performed all over the world and in Australia for some very large corporate events. She also has an impressive TikTok following, with one of her posts having over 1.8 million hits.

Cardinia performs pop, electronic and world music. She loves playing in unconventional locations and engaging with the audience, seeing reactions such as smiling, singing, and dancing to songs they recognise!

Cardinia has performed at society weddings and prides herself on surprising the bride and groom with traditional music that connects with the couple.  One time, she surprised a bride by playing a traditional song from her culture. Turns out it was a Bollywood hit, and it went viral with 3.5+ million views on Instagram.

Some highlights in 2024 have been playing at the iconic Rock Bar Bali with the backdrop of an ocean sunset, playing on the pitch with freestyle footballers at Allianz Stadium for Sydney FC foundation, and for the founder of Anastasia Beverly Hills and top Australian beauty influencers at Bennelong Restaurant.

Over the years, Cardinia has been involved in hundreds of live performances in front of a range of guests, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, former NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Glenn McGrath AM, Melissa Doyle OAM and Jessica Watson OAM. She has partnered with brands such as The McGrath Foundation, The Australian Ballet and Mercedes Benz and even has a Bridgerton inspired playlist on Spotify.

Cardinia started her musical training at the age of three. By the age of four, she had performed at the Sydney Opera House, and by the age of eleven, she had performed at London’s Westminster Abbey. She studied music at the Conservatorium High School, the secondary arm of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, after completing the highest grading in Australian Music Examinations for her age. She also received various scholarships, awards, and an ENCORE nomination, the NSW Department of Education’s showcase for exceptional performances.

She is not only a talented musician but also completed a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Technology, Sydney.

This makes Cardinia the perfect person to start a music school.  ITC asked her the following

Why Did You Start a Music School?

I enjoy giving back by inspiring students through music.

I started a music school to help others find confidence and connection through music, inspired by my own journey of overcoming rejection as a classical musician. I began playing violin at three years old, but for years, I felt isolated playing only classical music at school so I began playing violin covers of my favourite pop songs to connect with friends. Now I’m on a mission to empower students to feel confident expressing themselves through instrumental music.

What Do You Like Most About Running a Music School?

Seeing students go from zero to one. It’s so fulfilling. I love seeing progress and changing the trajectory of a student’s interest in music from wanting to stop lessons to thriving and taking their skills to another level.

How has Learning a Musical Instrument Impacted You?

It’s transformed my life in many ways. It’s not just about mastering a skill and developing soft skills. It’s given me access to incredible experiences that I never knew were possible, allowed me to connect with people who are exceptional in their fields, and nurtured wonderful professional relationships in the process.

What is Next Personally and for Your Music School?

Preparing for an exciting event season, recording music and working on some unique projects overseas next year. For the school, it’s about preparing for those 2025 enrolments.

How Long Have You Lived in Lane Cove?

All my life. I was born in Lane Cove and stayed in the area!

What’s Your Favourite Thing to do in Lane Cove?

I love heading out for a walk/run in the area.

What’s Your Favourite Coffe Shop in Lane Cove?

I love a good coffee and a bite from Kin Café and Wine Bar.
