Lane Cove is gearing up to celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival; The festival aims to recognise the significant contributions of older adults to the community and promote a vibrant and inclusive environment for seniors.
The NSW Seniors Festival, the largest celebration for individuals over 60 in the southern hemisphere, will take place from 3 to 16 March 2025.
This year’s theme, “Time to Shine,” encourages seniors to embrace new experiences, reconnect with friends, and showcase their talents.
In Lane Cove, various events have been organised to honour the contributions of our senior community. These events in Lane Cove are designed to celebrate the vibrant senior community, offering opportunities for connection, learning, and enjoyment. Whether you’re looking to indulge in delightful music and refreshments or seeking valuable information on aged care services, there’s something for everyone.

Time to Shine Day in the Park
There are so many events, and we have listed some highlights below. The day that you can’t miss is Wednesday 12 March 2025 between 10.00 am – 1.00 pm.

Join local service providers and Councils for a morning of entertainment and free morning tea. Sit back and relax at Sydney Community Services and Lane Cove Council’s garden party with a scone and a cuppa while you watch Chinese fan dancers and listen to the NSW Police Band. First Aid Awareness for Seniors
Monday, 03 March 2025 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Join Lane Cove Council for a free First Aid Awareness presentation that will provide information on what to do in medical emergencies.
ReVIVA First Aid will deliver a First Aid Awareness presentation to give you training and confidence in knowing what to do in a medical emergency. They will cover topics including:
• Calling 000 in an emergency
• How to manage an unconscious breathing casualty: recovery position
• CPR demonstration, including use of a defibrillator
• Medical emergencies: signs, symptoms and care management of heart attack, stroke, diabetic emergency, choking & Asthma
• Trauma: treatment and management of bleeding, slips, falls, fractures & Head/Spinal injury
• Overexposure to heat and cold: Hyper and Hypothermia
Light refreshments will be provided and each participant will receive a free: A to Z of Australian First Aid Manual.
African Drumming Workshop
Sydney Community Services is celebrating the Seniors Festival with an energetic, one-hour African drumming workshop. Experience West African musical traditions in this interactive session that includes drumming, dancing, and singing. Led by an experienced team, the workshop encourages active participation and fosters connection within the community. It is suitable for individuals of all ability levels.
