High Quality Local Theatre

It has also built a reputation for delivering thought-provoking and high-quality productions, and The Shape of Things promises to be no exception.

Under the direction of Kathryn Thomas (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Holding the Man and Next to Normal), this intimate and powerful play will challenge and engage audiences in a way only great theatre can.

The Shape of Things is a searing exploration of love, art, and the blurred lines between truth and deception. This gripping play will leave audiences questioning the nature of relationships and the power of influence.

Set in a small American college town, The Shape of Things follows the relationship between Adam, a shy and awkward student, and Evelyn, a bold and enigmatic art major.

When Evelyn takes an interest in Adam, he undergoes a remarkable transformation—losing weight, changing his style, and gaining confidence. But as their relationship intensifies, the true motivations behind Evelyn’s actions come into question, leading to a shocking revelation that will challenge everything you thought you knew about love, ethics, and self-identity.

First performed in 2001, with the original cast including Rachel Weisz and Paul Rudd, LaBute’s work remains as relevant and impactful as ever, delving into themes of power dynamics, social expectations, and the cost of artistic ambition. The Shape of Things is a must-see theatrical event with sharp dialogue, dark humour, and a narrative that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.

“A gripping psychological drama that explores the complexities of human relationships with wit and precision. The final twist is both devastating and brilliant.” – The New York Times
