New Australia Post Procedures When You Are Not at Home For a Parcel Delivery

In July 2024, In the Cove published an article about how Lane Cove loved their posties but not so much the Australia Post Couriers.   You can read the article here.

There is still frustration among Lane Cove locals who have noted that you can be home but you are not notified that a parcel has been delivered.  If you have tracking on the article, you might get an email that the items has been delivered, but if you are not regularly checking emails your parcel can sit outside your door for a while.

Australia Post’s protocol for parcel deliveries requires the courier to knock three times and wait 30 seconds when delivering to households, no answer means the parcel will be delivered to the nearest Post Office.

    Australia Post New Procedure

Australia Post has announced a new procedure when you are not home for delivery.  The only catch is that you must have downloaded the Australia Post app.

Starting 19 May 2025, the AusPost app will provide access to the attempted delivery photo that their team members take during attempted delivery, with this feature being gradually introduced over two weeks. They are sharing these photos to keep you informed and assure you that they tried a delivery but couldn’t leave the parcel at the address.

These photos will only be available in the AusPost app when they can match the parcel to your MyPost account via your email address or mobile phone number.

Their team will take the following steps.

Our team follows a strict process when taking these images to protect your privacy, which includes:

    • Photographing only the outside of your front door or the location where the parcel is left in a safe place.
    • Not photographing any people, vehicles or identifying text.
    • Not photographing the inside of the property through windows.
    • Not capturing personal circumstances where these might be visible from the front door.
    • Photographs will be available for 90 days then archived and deleted after three years.

If you’d prefer that no attempted delivery photos are taken at your address, you can opt out by contacting their Customer Service team on 13 76 78.

This should assist you in knowing if an attempted parcel delivery was made.

If you have a complaint about a delivery you can contact Australia Post via their website or phone 13 POST (13 7678).

So download that app and let us know if a couple of months, if this has stopped the no delivery when you are at home issue.
