Lane Cove Library is busy. It has one of the highest lending rates in NSW and is a cultural and community place where residents can borrow books, enjoy workshops, and obtain information.
For the last 70 years, Lane Cove Library has been an integral part of the Lane Cove community and village life and on 11 February 2025 the Lane Cove Library held a 70th Birthday party to celebrate its 70 years in Lane Cove. Read more about the Lane Cove Library’s 70 years here.
At their Birthday party, they indicated that they would be holding several different events and competitions to celebrate their 70th birthday. The Lane Cove Library has announced its Bookmark Design Competition.
Bookmark Design Competition
The competition opens Sunday 1 June 2025 and entries close Thursday 31 July 2025.
The competition is open to four different age categories:
- 4 – 10 years
- 11 – 17 years
- 18 – 59 years
- 60+ years
Design bookmarks across ten genre categories for Junior, Young Adult, and Adult books.
The ten genres are:
- Mystery/Thriller
- Horror/Paranormal
- Fantasy
- Family/Friends
- Adventure
- Historical
- Romance
- War
- Science Fiction
- Australian
One entry per genre will be accepted, with a maximum of ten entries per person.
A Shorelink Library membership is required.

Terms and Conditions
- The competition opens Sunday 1 June 2025.
- Entrants must have a current Shorelink Library membership.
- Each entry must be an original work, completed on the competition template and must include completed entry form details, including entrant’s parent or guardian signature to consent for the entrant to participate if entrant is under 16 years of age.
- Lane Cove Council is authorised to display and publish all entries. Entries will not be returned.
- Lane Cove Library must receive each entry no later than 11:59pm on Thursday 31 July 2025.
- Winning entries will be announced on International Literacy Day Monday 8 September. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Winning designs will be made into bookmarks that will be distributed throughout Lane Cove Library service. Each winner will receive twenty (20) copies of their winning design bookmark and a certificate
How to Enter the Competition
- In person entries: Submit your design in person to Lane Cove Library, Greenwich Library, St Leonards Library, and The Yarn, Hunters Hill.
- Email entries: Please include your design as a high-resolution scan and all entry form answers in your email to [email protected]
