Welcome to our Lane Cove News Week In Review.
Update On Longueville Rd & Epping Rd Traffic Light Malfunctions
After the traffic lights at this major Lane Cove intersection failed five times in the last month, In The Cove reached out to the Office of the Hon. Anthony Roberts MP for a status update.Â
His office confirmed that Transport for NSW attended the site at 4.12 pm on Thursday 27th November to investigate the ongoing fault and are monitoring the intersection while working toward a permanent solution.
There is no confirmed cause or fix yet, but Transport for NSW is actively investigating.
New Swim Spot Opens in Hunters Hill LGA
Just in time for summer Hunters Hill Council has officially opened a brand new swim site at Bedlam Bay, only minutes from Lane Cove.
This spot features a netted swimming enclosure, improved foreshore access, and has passed all the required water-quality checks under the Parramatta River Catchment Group’s program.
The project was supported by the NSW Government and brings back a historic riverside swimming area that hasn’t been accessible since the 1950s.
It’s a fantastic new option for locals looking for a calm, nature-filled swimming location close to home. Full details from Hunters Hill Council.

Canopy Carpark Chaos
On Thursday, 27th November 2025, at around 2.40 pm, an overheight vehicle damaged some internal roof infrastructure at the Entry/Exit point of the carpark on Rosenthal Avenue.
The damage resulted in 2.5 hours of disruption, with no vehicles able to enter the carpark and exiting vehicles directed out via the entry ramp.
Lane Cove Council Rangers were onsite to assist with traffic management. This task was exacerbated by traffic build-up from the traffic light outage at the intersection of Longueville and Epping roads (see our update at the top of this Week In Review).
After the incident, the Council advised that “All parking for inconvenienced vehicles will be free today (Thursday 27th November). Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding.”

Tool Theft Reported on Lane Cove Chat By ITC
On Monday 1 December 2025, the following was posted on Lane Cove Chat By ITC:
“My husband had a large amount of carpentry tools stolen from the back of his ute over the weekend, including some milwaukee packout, drills, all the bits, saws, grinder, recipro, tool belt with hand tools. He has only noticed when he got to work this morning and opened the toolbox. The ute was parked on Helen St in Lane Cove North. They were in a locked toolbox. It has been reported to police.Â
Please keep an eye out for anyone selling tools/ sets of this description in the area in the near future. Also, if you’re a tradie in the area, check your tools. Hopefully no one else is in the same boat as us this morning”
If you have information, you can contact Chatswood Police or Crimestoppers.
Small Suspicious Fire Pottery Lane
On Tuesday, 2 December 2025 the following was posted on Lane Cove Chat By ITC:
“Called Fire Services this evening – we discovered a small fire (around 30 cm) burning through the neighboring wooden fence at Pottery Lane Lane Cove. Firemen told us it appeared deliberate and to call police if you see anything suspicious.”
If you have information you can contact Chatswood Police or Crimestoppers.

Parcel Deliveries & Online Shopping Risks
The festive season brings a surge in online ordering and home deliveries. Unfortunately, parcel theft is also common during this time.
Rather than leaving parcels outside, consider using parcel lockers, secure collection points or asking a trusted neighbour to receive them. For high-value items, select delivery options requiring a signature or safe collection. Many couriers and Australia Post provide alternative drop-off points or secure locker services. You can also refer to this handy fact sheet from NSW Police.
ITC has previously covered local theft reports during busy periods.

If You Buy Us A Coffee, it is, in fact, helping to pay the ITC Team
We want to clarify that, yes, the ITC team does support local businesses by drinking coffee, but there is a limit to the number of cups you can drink in a day.
We started the Buy Us A Coffee Campaign as a way to keep local news free and to grow our team. Our team is now comprised of three local mums who work part-time to bring you all the up-to-date news, traffic alerts, incidents, and events. We also now have Walkley Award Nominee Jack Kelly writing articles for us, as well as founder Jacky Barker.  We truly appreciate any help you can provide, whether large or small.Â
How local journalism keeps communities engaged
Local newsrooms play a vital role in keeping communities informed and engaged with the decisions that affect them. Without dedicated coverage of local government, infrastructure, and policy changes, many residents are left uninformed about issues that significantly impact their daily lives. Independent newsrooms help bridge this gap, providing a trusted source of information and giving people a platform to voice concerns. Strong local reporting doesn’t just inform, it fosters public participation and strengthens civic engagement. – extract from the Local and Independent News Association Website
