Lane Cove Theatre Company Presents Calendar Girls

The Lane Cove Theatre Company’s first production of the year is Calendar Girls.

This production is a perfect way to start the 2026 Lane Cove Theatre Company’s Season.

Calendar Girls premiered in the United Kingdom in 2008 and has since become one of the most frequently produced contemporary plays worldwide.

Tim Firth’s hilarious play, based on the true story of eleven women who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls is a witty and heartwarming story of friendship and determination.

The season runs from 20 February 2026 to 1 March 2026.

What Would You Do In the Face of Grief?

Set in the rolling hills of Yorkshire, Calendar Girls follows a group of ordinary women who, in the face of grief, decide to do something extraordinary.

When Annie’s husband John dies of leukaemia, she and her best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room.

They persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from the hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence.

The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads quickly, and a swarm of press soon descends on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales.

The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is tested by the strain of their newfound fame.

The ensemble cast includes Michael Bellamy, Anita Lenzo, Pauline Gardner, Josephine Birch, Jannette Chambers, Georgina Philpott, Karen Firmstone, Darren Gibson, Blake Nicholas and Anastasia Vokhmyakova.

“Many people will want to kill you. Better you is ready.”

This glorious comedy about hope, death and pets, takes on a sense of enormity in the midst of the ordinary, questioning whether we really know what’s out there in the ‘burbs’.
