Daffodil Day Sip & Swap Returns to Lane Cove After Raising $25,000 in Its First Year

The Daffodil Day Sip & Swap is back for round two, and this Lane Cove committee of five is aiming even higher after last year’s event exceeded expectations and raised more than $25,000 for Cancer Council.

This year’s event will be held on Friday 21 August 2026, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, at The Cove Room, 48 Longueville Road, Lane Cove.

How It Started

Last year was the first time the event was held, and organisers Nicole, Jess, Courtney, Courtney and Sarah still cannot quite believe how strongly the Lane Cove community got behind it.

“Last year was the first time we held this event, and it was so overwhelmingly successful. We are so proud of ourselves for all the hard work put into making it the fun night it was.”

The end result was more than $25,000 raised for Cancer Council, through ticket sales, fundraising before the event and plenty of support on the night.

What Sip & Swap Actually Means

The concept is a little different from your traditional fundraiser. Guests donate quality pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories ahead of time, which the committee then sorts and styles into a pop-up “shop” for the night.

“The girls and I spend time organising these into categories and bring the vibe of being in a ‘shop’ to the night. All items are beautifully displayed throughout the venue, so guests can walk around and browse throughout the night, going home with at least two items of clothing for themselves to keep.”

Alongside the swap, the night includes live and silent auctions, with prizes ranging from pilates and gym memberships to dining vouchers, hotel stays, professional artwork, sporting memberships and travel vouchers.

Here is a look back at last year’s Sip & Swap night:

What’s Included

  • One token to exchange for an item of clothing, with extra tokens available on the night
  • Wine, nibbles and a signature Daffodil Day cocktail
  • A line-up of special guests
  • Lucky door prize and silent auction
  • A warm, welcoming Lane Cove crowd

This year, the committee is putting together a fresh line-up of speakers, described as “inspirational and helpful” and, by their own admission, “downright hilarious”.

Why They Do It

Behind the wine, wardrobe swapping and Friday night fun is a cause that sits close to home for all five women.

“We’re Lane Cove mums united by a common experience. Cancer has touched each of our lives. Whether through our own journey or supporting someone we love, we’ve all felt the fear and overwhelm that comes with a cancer diagnosis. During those challenging times, the Cancer Council was there for us in ways both big and small, offering practical help, emotional support and, most importantly, hope.”

The committee is made up of Lane Cove locals Courtney Kynoch, Courtney Nasser, Jessica Braude, Nicole Braude and Sarah Walwyn. All five juggle young families and full-time jobs alongside months of event planning.

“It is a busy few months but worth all the hours of work.”

Donating Clothes

Got something in the wardrobe with the tags still on, or a piece you would be thrilled to find yourself? The committee is accepting quality, as-new clothing donations until Friday 14 August 2026.

Drop-off details are emailed once you have purchased a ticket.

Get Your Tickets

Tickets are on sale now via Humanitix, and the committee is encouraging locals to grab theirs early before they sell out.

“Who doesn’t want a night out on a Friday where they can shop, laugh, have a cocktail, have something to eat and quite frankly be out of the house for a few hours?”

Round up the girls, book the babysitter and support Cancer Council while you are at it.
