For many local families, summer means one thing. Saturday mornings at the cricket. It’s the excitement of pulling on the blue and white for the first time. It’s learning how to hold a bat, taking your first catch, celebrating your first wicket and sharing an icy pole after the game. It’s parents cheering from the boundary while lifelong friendships are quietly being formed in the middle.
For more than 130 years, Lane Cove Cricket Club has been part of that tradition. Today, the club is home to 26 junior teams and around 260 young cricketers, with children of all ages and abilities taking part in a 16-week summer season that is about so much more than runs and wickets.
More than just cricket
Whether your child has never picked up a bat before or already dreams of hitting sixes, Lane Cove Cricket Club is built around one simple philosophy: every child deserves the opportunity to participate, improve and enjoy the game. From first-timers through to experienced players, our volunteer coaches focus on developing confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship just as much as cricket skills.
And while there are plenty of memorable matches each season, it’s often the friendships that become the biggest highlight. Many of our junior players have grown up together through the age groups, starting as beginners before progressing season after season alongside the same teammates and coaches. Watching those friendships develop is one of the most rewarding parts of being involved with the club.

Girls’ cricket continues to grow
One of the most exciting developments at Lane Cove Cricket Club is the continued growth of girls’ cricket. Girls can begin their cricket journey through Cricket Blast (ages 4 to 7) before progressing into our junior girls’ teams from U8 through to U17. Whether they’re trying cricket for the first time or already love the game, our focus is simple: providing a supportive, inclusive environment where girls can develop skills, build confidence and enjoy being part of a team.
Where every cricket journey begins
For younger children, Cricket Blast is the perfect introduction to the game. Designed for children aged 4 to 7, sessions are packed with games, activities and skill development, helping kids stay active while learning the basics of cricket in a relaxed and encouraging environment. No experience is required. Many of our junior players started exactly here.
Making it easy to get started
One of the biggest misconceptions about cricket is that you need to buy lots of equipment before your child can play. You don’t. Lane Cove Cricket Club provides playing equipment for new players, making it easy for families to give cricket a try without a significant upfront investment. Our experienced volunteer coaches and welcoming club community are always happy to help new families find the right team and settle into club life.
This season, Early Bird registrations (available until 25 August) are just $395 (including the Cricket Australia fee) and include a free LCCC training shirt, representing a saving of $37.45 before the regular season price.
