Oktoberfest at The Diddy: ten beer tents, three bands and a stein with every ticket

Sponsored by The Diddy, Longueville Sporting Club

Ten beer tents. Three live bands. One very big Saturday at the bottom of Longueville Road. The Diddy is going all in on Oktoberfest this year, and thankfully you won’t need to trek halfway across Sydney to get there.

Oktoberfest at The Diddy kicks off at midday on Saturday 3 October, with the grounds of Longueville Sporting Club taken over by ten beer tents, live music all day and plenty of German food to go with your stein.

Ten tents, ten brewers

Rather than one bar pouring the same few beers all day, The Diddy has lined up ten independent Australian brewers, each with their own tent.

Pouring on the day will be Slow Lane Brewing, Yulli’s Brews, Mountain Culture Beer Co, Young Henrys, Seventh Day Brewery, Reckless Brewing Co, The Grifter Brewing Co, Village Days Brewing Co, Philter and BentSpoke Brewing Co.

For a club that spent most of its 88-year history known for its bowling green, that is a pretty serious beer lineup.

Live music all day

There are three live bands booked for the day, with DJs filling the gaps in between.

  • Highline, Sydney indie rock
  • Lambros, high-energy funk rock
  • Masters of Oompah, Oktoberfest regulars bringing the very necessary oompah factor

Traditional bratwursts will also be on the menu alongside food from the club’s usual kitchen.

One for the grown-ups

A heads-up for parents: this event is strictly 18+ with no exceptions. It also lands right in the middle of the spring school holidays, so if Oktoberfest is calling your name, this is your reminder to line up the babysitter sooner rather than later.

The timing is otherwise rather perfect. Saturday 3 October is the first day of the Labour Day long weekend, giving you two full days to recover before Tuesday morning rolls around.

And unlike plenty of Sydney Oktoberfest events, this one is right here in Lane Cove. For many locals, The Diddy is walkable, a short bus trip or a very quick ride home at the end of the day.

Tickets

Tickets are being released in three tiers, with prices increasing as each allocation sells out rather than on a set date. So if you know you are going, Early Bird is the one to grab.

  • Early Bird: $59.25
  • General Release: $69.48
  • Final Release: $79.70
