This Film Screening is being presented by Lane Cove Council in partnership with the Sustainability Collective and The Sustainability Hive. While the event is free to attend, we ask that you register via Eventbrite.
🎥About the film: Australia is known as the lucky country, a land girt by sea. But beneath our love for the ocean is a hidden crisis. In The Plastic Country, Kal Glanznig goes on a journey across Australia to uncover the true impact of plastic on our beaches, wildlife, communities and human health. From remote coastlines in East Arnhem Land to microplastics on beaches, turtle hospitals, stormwater systems, supermarkets and Parliament House, this documentary asks a confronting question: What if the real danger of plastic is not just out there in the ocean, but already inside us? Featuring leading scientists, campaigners, Traditional Owners, wildlife experts and decision makers, The Plastic Country explores how Australia became one of the world’s highest plastic waste producers per person and what we can do to change course. This is not just a pollution story. It is a health story. A wildlife story. A story about country, responsibility and the future we choose to create.

🌤️Weather: This venue is weather-dependent. In the case of adverse weather, the screening will be relocated to the Pottery Lane Performance Space, with those who registered via Eventbrite given priority for admission.
