Homer’s Odyssey, relocated to Sydney at 1am after the trains have stopped.
Odie is a Queensland State of Origin hooligan stranded in the city with no way home. To get back to his missus Penny at the Ithaca Suites he has to resist the siren call of the pokies and charm a few ten foot sports-commentating sea monsters along the way.
Written and performed by Emrys Quin and directed by Emily Farrell, ODIE is billed as high language, low brow. It is a one man black comedy epic, and it is very funny about modern Australian identity, masculinity, vice and mateship without going easy on any of them.
ODIE sold out its city season at the Emerging Artist Share House, which is how it comes to Pottery Lane for an encore as part of Best of Fringe.
