For those who are staying In the Cove over Christmas, we’ve trawled the local businesses to find out who is going to be open on Christmas Day and/or Boxing Day. So if you NEED a coffee on Christmas or New Year’s Day Morning (and who doesn’t!?), lunch with friends on New Year’s Day, or you’re all out of a vital ingredient for post-Christmas baking, we’ve got the intel here with our list of trading hours.
Petrol, Convenience Stores, Booze and Yikes I have Locked Myself Out
If you need Petrol and Convenience Store items on Christmas Day/New Year’s Day, Jack & Co is open. You can buy petrol, coffee, ice, snack food and all those ingredients you forgot to get for that secret Christmas dish. 7 Eleven on Centennial Avenue is open throughout the Christmas Season from 6 am to midnight (and they have Slurpees and Krispy Kremes – we will say no more). You can preorder your Christmas Krispy Kremes by popping into the store for pick up on Christmas eve or Christmas Day.
If you need Booze over the Christmas Break Porters Northwood is only closed Christmas Day and will be open from 10 am on Boxing Day and 12 pm on New Year’s Day. If you’re having a New Year’s Eve party speak to them about their party services, free delivery and glass hire as they will be open on New Year’s Eve until 8.30 pm.
If you lock yourself out of your house or you need a replacement lock urgently – Alert Locksmiths and Security operate their emergency service 24 Hours a Day/7 Days a Week.
I need a Doctor or a Vet
If you need a Doctor on public holidays, Wise Medical Clinic in Macquarie Park is a private billing emergency clinic and they are open 10am-10pm 7 days a week.
For your Furry family members needing a vet, North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Artarmon is open 24/7 for emergencies. If its during business hours, our friends at Figtree Veterinary Clinic are open:

Christmas/New Year Clean Up
Many people clean up between the Christmas and New Year holidays. The Community Recycling Centre located at 8 Waltham Street in Artarmon is a one-stop shop for safely disposing of problem household wastes such as paint, gas bottles, e-waste or motor oil and more. In other words, problem wastes that can’t be collected via council kerbside waste or recycling collection services all year round. Their hours are as follows.

Lane Cove Library Open Hours
The Library staff have requested, that if possible, please do not return books on public holidays (the books stack up as the staff are not there to process the returns as they come in). Library items are not due during the period Christmas to 2 January 2019.
The Lane Cove Post Office will be operating normal hours and is open until 1pm on Saturdays. They will be closed on public holidays.
The above trading hours could change so if you are really keen to check out a place, give the business a call.
Repairs
Computer broken? Or just need to give it a checkup over the break? The Tek Doctor can come to you. Apart from the public holidays, they are opened business as usual.
Car needing a mechanic? Randalls is closed from 20th December- 5th January. Open from the 6th for bookings and mechanic back from 13th January.
SHOP LOCAL OR LOCAL GOES
Our Lane Cove Christmas Gift Guides are out now!! They are packed with heaps of local ideas and Christmas gift suggestions.
There are gift vouchers for massages, lingerie, pilates and yoga, beauty treatments, hairdresser pampering and much more. There are also some unique ideas developed by Lane Cove locals such as eco bags, beautiful crystal water bottles, the slingstrap, and more. Of course there is our food and drink guide with Gourmet Hams delivered to your door and some boozy stocking stuffers for the person who has everything.
