Snow, Moon, and Flowers ‐ 雪月花 – Junko Hirabayashi
2 September 2026 @ 8:00 pm - 8:30 pm

A world premiere at Pottery Lane Performance Space, Snow, Moon, and Flowers weaves together classical Japanese dance, live music and English narration to tell the stories of three pioneering Japanese immigrants in Australia and the USA. Choreographed and performed by Junko Hirabayashi, the work draws its title from a Tang Dynasty poem describing the beauty of Japan’s four seasons.
The piece marks the 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan, blending historical fact with fictional elements across two short performances on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 September.
Part of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe. Rated G, running time 20 minutes.
