How to Work With In the Cove
This guide is for local sporting clubs, associations, teams and sporting organisations in and around Lane Cove.
In short
We may be able to include basic sporting club information for free, but free coverage is never guaranteed.
If your club wants guaranteed reach, repeated promotion, a dedicated article, newsletter promotion, social media promotion or promotion of an income-generating activity, you will need an advertising plan.
Our independence
In the Cove is an independent local news platform. We are not aligned with any political party, business, organisation, club, church or interest group. Our editorial decisions are made independently, based on local relevance, community interest, available resources and editorial judgement.
What may be available for free
- A listing in the In the Cove sporting clubs directory
- Inclusion in relevant community guides or seasonal sporting wrap-ups
- Possible mention in the Week in Review where information is timely and locally relevant
- Permission to post in the In the Cove Chat group, within the group rules and posting limits
- Occasional sharing of major milestones or achievements of clear community interest
This basic support is designed to keep the community informed. It is not an advertising campaign, and inclusion is never guaranteed.
Directory listing
Clubs based in or around Lane Cove are welcome to submit a listing for our sporting clubs directory.
Event calendar
Sporting clubs may submit specific events such as match days, competitions, club-run community events, fundraising events, award nights, presentation days and end-of-season celebrations.
Events must be listed as specific dates. A single-day or multi-day event is fine, but a whole-season fixture list is not suitable for the event calendar.
Week in Review and sports news
The Week in Review generally covers Tuesday to Tuesday. Sporting news may be included where it is timely, locally relevant and of genuine interest to the broader Lane Cove community.

- Representative selections — local, state or national
- Grand final results
- New programs for local children or adults
- Significant club milestones or community contributions
What clubs need to provide
- Club name and sport
- Age groups or divisions catered for
- Registration dates
- Training and game locations
- Season dates
- Website or booking link
- Contact details
- Relevant images or flyers
- Key achievements, milestones or community news to share
In the Cove cannot chase missing details. Incomplete submissions may not be used.
Image permissions and file size
By submitting images, you confirm you have permission to share them with In the Cove for publication on our website, newsletter and social media channels. Where children are pictured or named, the submitting club is responsible for confirming appropriate permissions are in place.
Please provide images suitable for web use. If image files are too large, we may ask you to reduce the file size and resubmit them.
When an advertising plan is required
- Guaranteed promotion
- Repeated social media promotion
- Newsletter advertising
- A sponsored article
- A campaign-style push for registrations, events or fundraising
- Reels or video content
- Promotion of ticketed events, paid clinics, paid holiday camps or any income-generating program
Discounted advertising for eligible clubs
Eligible not-for-profit sporting clubs may receive a significant discount on selected advertising options. Please let us know you are a not-for-profit sporting club when
Chat group rules
Gain exclusive access to post in our Facebook groups, where thousands of locals engage daily:
- Post a maximum of once per week (all posts require admin approval and will remain pending until we can review)
- Content must comply with group rules
- Promotional content for paid clinic or school holiday program promotion must go through advertising options, not the Chat groups
