September School Holiday Events In Lane Cove

It is lovely having the kids at home for the School Holidays.  No routine, no making lunches or ironing clothes.  But, they can get in your face and sometimes you need a little break from each other.  That is when it is good to enrol them in a school holiday programme.  Here are some of the ones we have found.

Learn To Sail Greenwich Sailing Club  21 – 23 September

Creative Kids Workshops   – Pom Pom, Garlands and Lanterns

Local online businesses, Two Shady Monkeys and April Mae, are collaborating to bring you new and unique workshops for your children in the school holidays.  No experience needed.  Each participant will take home what they make.

Dates/Activity:

22nd September   9.30 – 12 noon.    Pom Pom Garland and Lantern

24th September    9.30 – 11.30am.   Pom Pom Accessories

1st October           9.30 – 12 noon.    Pom Pom Garland and Lantern

The costs range from  $55 – $65.

Two Shady Monkeys and April Mae  aim to keep the workshops personal and have one staff member per five participants (maximum 10 participants). The teachers are experienced in running workshops and are happy for you to have some much needed time out and drop the children off to us.  However, if you would like to be a part of this workshop with your child you are welcome to stay.

Burns Bay Dance –  22 and 23 September 2015 9.00 – 3.00pm Monday and Tuesday

Have fun doing Ballet, Jazz and Tap lessons.  There is also craft, games, activities and movie time
Morning and afternoon tea provided.  The cost is $50.00 per day and is suitable for ages 4+.  Everybody is welcome, you do not need to be a member of the dance studio.  To sign up email [email protected]

Another family activity is to visit Dirtgirl at Home HQ at Artarmon

Take the kids on a Spring adventure this school holidays at HomeHQ Artarmon. The north shore’s most popular homemaker centre is hosting free Dirt Girl World Pot-a-Plant workshops between 10am-2pm daily from Thursday 1 to Monday 5 October for all the budding gardening enthusiasts and Dirt Girl fans.

Kids can decorate their own cardboard pots made from recyclable materials before choosing and planting a seedling in them. The real magic starts at home as they care for their plants and watch them grow, just like their favourite green thumbed character.

A highlight for Dirt Girl fans is her special guest appearance in-centre on Saturday 3 October between 10am and 2pm. Don’t miss out on this unique photo opportunity (and remember to bring a camera to capture it!)

 HomeHQ’s Dirt Girl workshops will be located on the Lower Ground floor with easy level access from HomeHQ’s indoor parking, free for up to 3 hours on week days and all day on weekends. Make a day of it and stop by the HomeHQ café, a great spot to refuel with plenty of child-friendly snacks and meals, and coffee devotees will also love the Campos Coffee now sold on site.

Bop Till You Drop

Bop till you drop is ideal for 5 – 12yr olds.  The children will be put in classes according to their age and they can be grouped with their friends.

Bop Till you drop runs a structured Performing Arts Program with rotating classes each day. Their professional teachers conduct classes to increase your child’s skills in Singing, Dancing and Acting. They also run additional classes such as cooking, science and magic to break up the day and keep your child super active. On the second day the children will perform a CONCERT where family and friends can witness their new found talents. They also present each child with a Graduation Certificate! 

Classes include:

• Cooking
• Team challenges

The program focuses on self-esteem and confidence building. They encourage the children to be part of the creative process allowing them to feel important and proud of whom they are. The philosophy behind this is that children learn faster and enjoy their classes more when they feel their opinion is valued.
