If you live in, or regularly visit Lane Cove, you would know doubt be familiar with Lodge. It’s hard to miss, in its prime location on the corner of the Lane Cove Market Square Arcade, and Lane Cove Plaza.
I’ll confess – I’m a regular customer at Lodge. It started slowly, a couple of years ago, when ownership, and name changed (from Firefly to Lodge) and my daughter declared that the pancakes at Lodge were her favourite ITC.
Since then, I’ve gradually started my own list of ‘favourites’ from Lodge! They use Campos coffee, which is always a plus in my books AND you can order it on the go with the fabulous SKIP app; Lodge are open pretty much all the time; in the evenings ‘Kids Eat Free’ (conditions apply); they have lots of healthy gluten free and sugar free treats; Happy Hour EVERY DAY; the lovely owners, Marketa and Matt; and much more.
Breakfast or brunch at Lodge is guaranteed to see my daughter eating those pancakes, and I’ll generally agonise over the Breakfast Bruschetta or one of their healthier options like the Quinoa Bowl with poached eggs. And don’t forget the coffee!
I’ll often grab a takeaway coffee from Lodge, after school drop-off, or while dashing around running errands. Love that I can order via SKIP app, and my coffee will be waiting for me when I pop past.
If I’ve got the time to pause for a while, I’ll grab a seat and indulge in a treat with my coffee – favourite treats include their indulgent GF Chocolate Muffins, the GF/SF Caramel Slice, and their GF Rocher Slice.
I don’t often have lunch at Lodge, but the dish I always seem to order when I do is their Warm Wild Rice Salad, with rocket, endive, apple, honey roasted pumpkin, chilli roasted pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and cashew nuts.
There’s nothing like finishing the working week with a drink at Lodge on a Friday, taking advantage of Happy Hour, and eating way too many of their addictive Sweet Potato Fries or Beer Battered Fries, with a gang of local friends.
If we’re feeling a bit posh, we might even order an Antipasto Platter.
More often than not, Happy Hour at Lodge progresses onto dinner, and I usually order one of two dishes – the Sirloin Steak or the Herb Rubbed Lamb Cutlets. My daughter loves the Kids Meals (the usual suspects) – in particular the Spaghetti Bolognese or the Crumbed Chicken strips with chips.
They do decadent desserts too – like this oozy Chocolate Fondant.
On Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday night, Lodge have their Mexican Night, with a special menu, in addition to their usual dishes.
Don’t go to Lodge if you’re looking for a ‘Fine Dining’ experience. But if you’re looking for a coffee or a meal somewhere relaxed, family friendly, accommodating, has room for groups, serves up consistently tasty food, and almost always friendly service, this could be the place!
