Argentine Tango at Lane Cove Golf Club
Lane Cove Golf Club (aka Lane Cove Country Club) has teamed up with one of the world’s leading Argentine Tango instructors to offer north shore residents classes in mastering the basics of this popular dance.
The Argentinian instructor, Carlos Costes, has recently settled in Sydney. He learned Tango as a child from his grandmother and has taught and danced professionally for 25 years in Buenos Aires and all over the world. Carlos says would-be learners should not be apprehensive. “Anyone can learn Tango. It’s fun and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and all fitness levels. The lessons are suitable for anybody, even people who’ve never previously danced a step”, Carlos says.
When: Every Wednesday 6pm – 7.15pm, beginning February 1st, 2017
What should I wear to the classes?
Comfortable clothes and leather soled shoes. Ladies can wear high heels, but it is not necessary.
Do I need a partner?
You may come with a partner, although this is not required. If you come alone, we will try to partner you with another student.
Do I need any dance experience?
No, the classes are for people with no dance experience.
Cost:
Prices for single students:
Casual drop-in rate is $25, and if students pre-pay for 8 classes the cost is $150.
Prices for a couple (one leader and one follower):
Casual drop-in rate is $40, and if students pre-pay for 8 classes the cost is $250.
The 8 classes do not need to be consecutive but need to be taken within 3 months.
Students make better progress attending regularly, though we understand that people have busy lives and go on holidays, business trips, have family commitments and sometimes get ill – so they do not have to attend every week!

Carlos has danced Argentine Tango since he was a child. He was born in Buenos Aires, and has taught and danced professionally in Buenos Aires for 25 years.
Carlos has performed and taught throughout Europe, the US and Latin America. He believes anyone can learn Tango. It’s fun and can be enjoyed by people of all ages, all fitness levels, and even for those with no dance experience. He infuses his classes with information about the music, culture and history of the dance.
