Lane Cove Week in Review – 3 to 9 July 2017

Welcome to our Lane Cove Week in Review for 3 to 9 July 2017.

Stunning blue skies this week, which ensured plenty of out door time for those holidaying kids hanging about in the Cove. Our cover photo was taken at Hughes Park, in Lane Cove West.

Lane Cove Commercial Property Selling Like Hot Cakes!

You may remember that three adjoining shops were recently for sale, just off the Plaza – Dymocks, the old Kidstuff, and what was Rea’s Butcher. Well these sold for a massive 33% over reserve! You can read about it HERE.  And watch a video of the Auction HERE.

Now, seven adjoining shops have just been advertised for Auction – the strip of shops that include BWS, La Provence, The Burns Bay Bookery, and others. Wonder what crazy price they will go for! Any guesses?

Bus News

We have a team of Roving Reporters who keep us up to date on day-to-day issues with buses to/through Lane Cove. Here’s a little of what’s been reported this week.

530 Bus from Burwood to Chatswood

Not exactly what I think we were asking for when we complained about lane Cove buses always being late… the joy of watching a bus go past that you allowed yourself 10 extra minutes to catch.

530 bus 600 s

530 is consistently early from Burwood to Chatswood direction. I asked one of the drivers and it’s the low patronage which means it probably stops only a few stops on its way from Burwood to Drummoyne so it is arriving in Lane Cove mostly early.

How can a bus leave the first bus stop 7 minutes early?? Why bother even having a time table at all?? Who knows whether the next bus will turn up on time or whether it will even turn up at all. I am fed up with Sydney Buses!

Buses to the City – Wednesday Morning, during the school holidays

40 people waiting at my stop. 20 when we arrived. A full something came through at 7:55am (said set down only) and we just filled a 294, but couldn’t take everyone waiting.

Donations Needed – Monster Garage Sale on 22 July

Every year, St Michael’s Parish holds a big Garage Sale to raise funds for Caritas International and Youth off the Streets. Full details of donation drop-off (from 10-19 July) and sale day HERE.
