Gold for Gunnedah Total – Well Done Lane Cove

A big thank you to Lane Cove residents, businesses, sporting groups, charities, churches and Lane Cove Council for your generosity.  Lane Cove raised in total $31 819.52 in ITC’s Gold for Gunnedah campaign.

To recap Lane Cove’s sister city is Gunnedah.  As this drought became worse, Lane Cove staged a week of drought relief help (which became longer than a week with more people staging events).  Gunnedah became Lane Cove’s Sister City after the last drought when Lane Cove helped the people of Gunnedah.  Lane Cove Mayor Pam Palmer met with the Mayor of Gunnedah and told him that Lane Cove would help out. This idea started with Lane Cove Councillor Andrew Zbik who is married to former Gunnedah resident Bronwyn Deane.

How Much was Raised?

Collection Points – $20 319.52 (distributed to Gunnedah Rotary)
C3 Church Lane Cove – $ 6 500
Lane Cove Council Donation – $5 000

How Will the Money Benefit Gunnedah?

Lane Cove Rotary worked with Rotary Gunnedah to establish a collection point. Gunnedah Rotary will disperse the money throughout their community by way of vouchers to local food stores, and other local retailers.

A recipient of the local vouchers sent the following thank you:

Hi we received a Gunnedah chamber of commerce gift card and we just wanted to pass on our sincere appreciation for the kindness you have shown to us in this way! It is a wonderful idea to help local businesses and farmers alike in this hard season.
It really does mean a lot and is a huge help during this time.
Many Thanks
Darryn, Michelle,
Levi and Kezia

C3 Church is donating their money to the Local Anglican Church who will take submissions from local farmers in need.

Drought Relief Fundraiser

During the Gold for Gunnedah week a group of Lane Cove locals organised an Afternoon Tea for Drought Angels.  The organisers raised $20 000 for Drought Angels.  The organising committee was Sarah Martin, Ros Carberry, Gillian Ruckriegel, Monique Chilton, Cath Doherty, Bronwyn Deane and Marea Hall.  Nearly 200 people attend the event and it was well supported by so many Lane Cove businesses.  A big thank you to the anonymous donor who donated the champagne for the event and Porters Liquor Northwood who delivered the champagne and provided glasses free of charge, ice and buckets.  If you are having a party and need drinks give them a call!!

Gunnedah Tea Towels

We also have Gunnedah Tea Towels for Sale with all profit going to the Gold for Gunnedah campaign.  If you know someone from Gunnedah this would make a great Christmas Gift.  You can buy them online here.  ITC sold Gunnedah Tea Towels at the Lane Cove Fair and the proceeds have been included in the total above.
