It’s that time of the year when school starts back and your child (or you) wants to be involved in Saturday or Sunday sports. Here’s the low-down on how to get involved with a Lane Cove Sporting Club.
The NSW Government’s Active Kids vouchers are now available. Parents, guardians and carers can apply for a voucher valued up to $100 per calendar year for each student enrolled in school. The voucher can be used towards your registration. Apply online and you will be given a voucher number which you can then use when you register.
Recommended (but not limited) to children aged 5-9.
Games and training are held on Sunday mornings at Blackman Park.
Under 9’s and up
Children play in age groups from U9 upwards. Both boys and girls teams are available.
The Cats play in the AFL Sydney Junior competition, with games held on Sunday mornings. Training is held on Wed/Thu afternoons.
Youth Girls AFL
The Lane Cove Cats enter teams in the Greater Sydney Juniors AFL competition. More information on the GSJ can be found at www.aflgsj.com.au.
In 2019 they plan to have teams playing in Under 10YG, Under 12YG and Under 14YG divisions.
Tiny Tigers Ages 4 -6
Tiny Tigers is a fun active introduction to junior league. Designed to healthy attitudes and fundamental movement skills like catching, passing, hand-eye coordination and balance in a safe and super fun team environment. Our 5 week program is led by qualified Kickstart coaches and through fun games kids also fine tune skills in listening, understanding and responding to instructions. And have a heap of fun with their new footy mates!
It is a 5 week program and starts Tuesday 26th Feb 2019 at 4pm 0n Tantallon Oval, Lane Cove. The session length is 45 mins.
Registration: $50 and includes training jersey Or $100 and includes 5 week Tiny Tigers program + 2019 registration to play junior league in U6s, Club jersey, shorts and socks to keep, Telstra NRL season pass, North Sydney Bears home game pass and player insurance.

Lane Cove Tigers Junior Rugby League will be in the Lane Cove Plaza Saturday 2nd and 9th February 2019.
Try before you register – Free Come & Try Days on Monday 18th Feb 5pm – 6pm at Tantallon Oval, Lane Cove. All welcome ages 4 – 15 boys and girls. Girls can try out the new League Tag Team comp.
With a proud 80 year history, Lane Cove Football Club is the largest football (soccer) club in the Lane Cove area. Lane Cove FC provides opportunities for players of all skill levels and ages. Their teams range from Under 6’s in the MiniRoos competition to Over 45’s in the senior Men’s competition, with strong representation in the Girls and Women’s competitions. Lane Cove Football Clubs will be visiting Lane Cove Plaza on Saturday 2nd and 9th February 2019 for their annual winter season registrations. The LCFC will be there to answer all your questions. Whether you’re a brand new player, or returning player drop by and say hi!

- Prices range from $165 to $245 (depending on your age group). A family discount is available with every second child $15 off and third child $15 off.

• Mighty 5′s (U5) is touch not tackle with a focus on fun & skills; there is no training. Play Saturdays.
• Minis (U6 – U9) play Saturdays from end of March until the end of August.
• U6 – U7 is touch not tackle; U8 – U9 is modified versions of rugby focusing on safety.
• Minis participate in gala days and rugby tours.
• Players receive shorts, socks, training top, a backpack & free entry to Waratahs home games!
• Juniors (U10 – U16) play Sundays (and occasional Fridays) from the end of March until the end of August – 14 rounds plus finals.
• Representative opportunities with Gordon Junior Rugby.
• U14s do a fantastic tour to New Zealand.
• Access to coaching from Gordon Rugby Club coaches and players.
• Players receive shorts, socks, training top & free entry to Waratahs home games!
There is also Girls only 7s and 15s competitions available including the 7s competitions which run for 7 weeks on Saturday evenings in term 1 and term 2/3. Lane Cove Junior Rugby is keen to get as many girls involved as possible. Get down to the Longueville Sporting Club for the launch of the 2019 season for Lane Cove Rugby. This will be an informal get together for all current and new players, coaches and supporters to enjoy a beer and get pumped up for the season ahead.

We often get asked about Netball clubs in Lane Cove (by both senior and junior players). It is not uncommon for junior netball to be played with a school team.
Willoughby United Netball Club
Willoughby United Netball club is a community club welcoming players from age 7 and up to play in the Northern Suburbs competition in either Net Set Go (ages 7 – 9), Juniors (10- 15) or Seniors (16+). We train every Wednesday evening at Willoughby Leisure Centre on the outdoor courts, 5-6pm for players aged 7 – 12 years; 6-7pm for 13 – 15 years and 7-8pm for seniors (16+) commencing Feb 6th. We cater for players of all ages and playing standards. As a community club we welcome players from many schools around the lower north shore and beyond and it is a great way to meet new friends and learn new skills. . We will also be holding an information session for any new players interested in finding out more on Saturday 2nd Feb at the Willoughby Leisure Centre outdoor lower netball courts between 9-11am. Lane Cove Swim Club (LCSC) is a non-profit community swimming club based at Lane Cove Aquatic Centre. LCSC promotes swimming in Lane Cove at every level from recreational and fitness to elite athlete squad training for competition at local, statewide and national swimming meets. LCSC is one of the oldest swimming clubs in Australia. LCSC core activity is their Saturday morning club that conducts friendly races from 7 – 9 am in summer. Saturday morning club is a friendly social gathering for the whole family from infants to grandparents. Adults of all ages take the opportunity to race with squad swimmers and younger swimmers. It is common to see 80 year olds racing with 8 year olds.
