5 Reasons to Strap the Rugby Boots Back On and Play with Lane Cove Rugby Union

You know it’s the game they play in Heaven and you can play it in Lane Cove with the Lane Cove Rugby Union Football Club.  Lane Cove Rugby are looking for players to play Colts and Seniors.

Lane Cove Colts (18yrs – 21yrs)

Reformed in 2014 for the first time in 50 years, the Lane Cove Colts have made their presence known in the Sydney Suburban Rugby Radford Cup after winning the Radford Cup competition in 2016. The colts competition is an opportunity for school leavers to continue to play socially with mates from high school  or an opportunity to meet a group of locals that are able to fit a game and a couple of training sessions around uni or an apprenticeship. Lane Cove Colts are seen as the life blood of the Lane Cove Seniors competition and bring an athleticism and social exuberance appreciated by all involved with Lane Cove Rugby.

Lane Cove Rugby Seniors (22yrs +)

Formed in 1949, Lane Cove Seniors have had a rich history filled with victory, valour, and veracity. Competing in the Meldrum Cup, Lane Cove Seniors continue to improve their game and maintain a strong bond both on and off the field.  Men from all walks of life join Lane Cove Seniors rugby – we’ve got painters and plumbers, business executives and IT professionals, accountants, manufacturers and members of the army reserves. No matter what you do or where you come from Lane Cove is a great club with a hard-hitting on field demeanour coupled with a vibrant social scene.

Five Reasons to Play

We promised you five reasons to strap on the boots, but really what Lane Cove Rugby have put together is five reasons you think you’re not ready to play footy (but you really are)

I can’t commit to every training and every game

We know. Colts and Seniors rugby is a serious commitment but it can’t get in the way of work, university, or the kids. Lane cove is made up of men from all walks of life including students, parents, and travelling professionals. We only ask that you come to every training session and game you possibly can.

I haven’t played in years (or ever before) and wouldn’t know where to begin

Begin by making contact. It doesn’t matter what your experience is, as long as you’re keen to learn and willing to put in some hard yards we’ll help you with the rest.

It’s not footy season, i’ll wait for next season

Wrong! It’s always footy season. Just because there isn’t a game on the weekend doesn’t mean there isn’t an Oztag or touch footy game on, or pre-season fitness, or drinks at the pub. Get in contact and find out what’s going on this weekend.

I’m not fit enough

A few weeks at training or pre-season will absolutely sort you out. You don’t need to spend three months jogging or at the gym before coming down for a session. Jump right in and join the struggle. If you’re not hurting you’re not doing it right!

I weigh 140kgs, love jamming schooners, and the only thing as foul as my mouth is my temperament

Good, we need props.
