It forms part of the wider Lane Cove Rotary Fair, Sustainability Lane incorporates local community groups that are assisting Lane Cove to become a sustainable community and allows businesses to showcase sustainable products and services which contribute to a more sustainable Lane Cove.
Syrian Feast Pop Up Dinner – 19th October 2019
On Saturday, 19 October 2019 join Lane Cove local Anu of OneTableSydney who pops up at various spots around Sydney. It’ll be just as we hit spring and the days get warmer and longer so you’ll have a glorious view of the Lane Cove Golf Course as you eat dinner.
Everyone arrives at the same time (7pm) and is treated to a 7/8 course degustation menu
On the 19th October, she’ll be doing one of her most popular menus – a Syrian Feast. Anu will talk a bit about the food before the dinner – so you’ll leave well fed and a bit cleverer too. At around 7:30pm, everyone sits along one long community table to a feast piled high on sharing platters in the middle of the table. If you’ve booked as a group, you’ll be seated together on the community table – so just the right balance of new folk and pals. The evening is as much about sharing some good food as it is about getting to know strangers over interesting conversations.
Anu’s family lived in Damascus for a couple of years just before the war which is when she fell in love with the country and the generosity of its people. Given that none of us are likely to visit Syria in the near future she uses this menu as an opportunity to give her diners a tiny window into the country and her experiences there. So the food is an an adaptation of the recipes that her friends and neighbours from Damascus and Aleppo generously shared with her, but with some of her tweaks of course.
The degustation menu itself will be $65/person. More Details here

Lane Cove Food and Wine Festival 3 November 2019
This Festival is the new kid on the block, however it is gaining momentum every year. One of the highlights is the Food and Wine Festival By the River.
Orange wineries and gourmet food vendors will be serving up the mouth-watering flavours at Tambourine Bay Reserve, Riverview from 11:00am – 5:00pm.
The event will again showcase the cool climate wine growing region of Orange which is proving itself as a year round destination for quality produce and award-winning wineries. Samples will be available by the glass or half glass and a range of exciting foodies will be on-site to offer the perfect accompaniment to your high altitude wine.
Food and Wine by the River is a licensed event with no BYO or glass permitted. This family-friendly event includes free face painting and an animal farm display for the kids and as long as dogs are on a leash, they can come too! There will be a free shuttle bus running from the Lane Cove Library down to the event so you can leave the car at home. Free parking is also available at St Ignatius’ College, Riverview.
Food and Wine By the River is part of the River Festival. The River Festival celebrates life on the river with two weeks of activities along foreshores, in parks and on the doorsteps of community groups that call the river home. Be it a glance, a swim or a paddle the Lane Cove community is connected to life on the river. More info soon, here is what it was all about last year.
