This week it was all about traffic and vehicles.

School Student Hit at Hunters Hill

It is back to school time—a reminder to slow down. On Wednesday morning 3 February, a young child was hit by a car in Hunters Hill. Police advised:

A young boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car at Hunters Hill this morning.

After 8 am emergency services were called to Blaxland Street, after reports a Suzuki Jimny had hit a child.

The eight-year-old boy was treated at the scene before being taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

The Suzuki driver, a 20-year-old woman, was uninjured. She was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Another Accident at Centennial Avenue and Mowbray Road Lane Cove North

Our Roving Reporters reported a bad accident at Mowbray /Centennial corner with a car on Mowbray heading west hitting a car turning from Mowbray into Centennial Avenue. Police and Fire Truck were in attendance.

Massive Police Operation in Hunters Hill

On Saturday 6th February 2021 a police operation was conducted on Joubert Street, Hunters Hill after police were called to premises shortly after 5 pm.  A perimeter was established with specialist resources attending to assist.
About 10 pm, a male occupant was spoken to by the police—a search of the premises located no items of interest. No arrests were made in relation to the incident, and inquiries are continuing.

Four Car Crash Leads to Heavy Traffic on Harbour Bridge

On Wednesday a four-car crash led to extended traffic delays into the city with traffic backed up to Reserve Road.

Foxes Are Out and About in Lane Cove

The following was posted on Lane Cove Chat by ITC. We have had quite a few fox sightings recently.

“Fox on the prowl this morning in Elizabeth Pde. Called WIRES, they don’t do Fox’s. Not sure where he has gone now. Could have gone up towards Canberra St. Bit of a morning surprise/scare!”  (see our cover photo)

Power Outage Cope Street

On 5th February a tree fell on a powerline causing an outage at Cope Street Lane Cove West.
