Lane Cove Swim Club Holds Championships in the new Lane Cove Outdoor Pool

The new 50m Lane Cove Outdoor pool has been given the thumbs up by the Lane Cove Swim Club after they held their first Club Championships in the brand new outdoor pool on 21 February and 7 March 2021.

Over 100 swimmers from all age groups competed in the Club championships. The youngest swimmers were 5 (under 6’s) and the oldest swimmer (s) in their 50s (opens); most of the swimmers were in the 8-12 years age group.

The championships provide swimmers with an opportunity to set qualifying times for district, metro and state meets.

This is the Lane Cove Swim Club’s 60th Club Championship.

A race carnival needs officials, and Lane Cove Swim Club has some very dedicated officials. Their oldest official is Pauline Corthorn.  She is 90 and a life member of the club.

The Championships were a success with some great swims, plenty of ‘PB’s’ and quite a few Club records.

About the Lane Cove Swim Club

You do not need to be an elite athlete to join the club.  The club is open to all levels.

It is not too late to try this season. Saturday Morning Swim Club has 3 Saturdays to go – open to anyone who is interested; just come along at 7 am to the outdoor pool and see a Club official (in a Club t-shirt), and you can try. First 2 sessions free to give new people a taste.

Their Winter Club starts in May – and runs until August – once a month on a Friday night.
