Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios presents

UNCOVERED: Northwood, Lloyd Rees and Beyond

UNCOVERED: Northwood, Lloyd Rees and Beyond features an exciting and unexpected new discovery, a rare collection of life drawings by renowned Australian artist Lloyd Rees found at his old Northwood studio, now held in the Macquarie University Art Collection.  Displayed for the first time to the public, these drawings pertain to the famous Northwood sketch club Rees attended every Thursday evening at the house of fellow artists John and Marie Santry.

Contemporary artist Brendan Kelly has responded to aspects of site, place and buildings that interweave a rich narrative of the Northwood Group and what it meant in their quest of cooperating light with colour through the disciplines of life drawing and plein air painting.

This exhibition is a partnership between Macquarie University Art Gallery and Gallery Lane Cove and will be shown over both venues.
