Lane Cove News Week in Review 8th to 14th March 2023

Welcome to our week in review.

Lane Cove Rocks at the Canopy

On Saturday Night FABBA (an ABBA Tribute band) rocked The Canopy.  The Canopy green was packed with locals enjoying the music and the restaurants around The Canopy were also packed.

It’s a good time to reflect that without the actions of concerned residents, this area could have been apartments – read about the history of The Canopy here.

Get ready to really rock it out on 5th May 2023 when The Canopy will host the AC/DC Show with Dirty Deeds.  Book here.

Bus Delays Still Happening

A few years ago (before COVID) ITC ran a campaign to have more buses servicing the Lane Cove area and to reduce the queues.  For a while more buses were scheduled starting form Lane Cove West Business Park and this helped to reduce queues.  Now the bus queues are back again, notwithstanding that Busways promised to reduce cancellations the queues are growing.  You can register your delays here.

Lane Cove Sport

The Lane Cove Cricket Club has again been incredibly successful in the Girl’s cricket competition.

Lane Cove Perry are the Minor Premiers in the Under 17 Age Group. They won their semi-final last weekend convincingly (0/92 vs 8/90) against Leichhardt and will be playing North Sydney in the final this Saturday at 1pm at Blackman Park.

Lane Cove Haynes U13 team finished 2nd in their competition at the end of the home and away season. They also had a convincing win against St Ives last weekend (4/173 vs 5/126) in their semifinal and will be playing North Sydney at 1pm in the final at Blackman Park.

All five Lane Coves girls’ sides finished in one of the top 4 spots in their competitions and made the Championship semifinals, which is the first time in the 5 years of LC Girls cricket they have achieved that feat.

In addition, two Lane Cove girls topped the batting awards for all the players in the U17 competition. Eliza McLeod (from LC Lanning) has scored the most runs in the competition with 334 and Jhansika Peddada (LC Perry) has the highest batting average with 132.

Pop down to Blackman Park this Saturday to see the girls in action. Below is a picture of the Lane Cove Perry team and Lane Cove Lanning team.
