Lane Cove Market Square – Lift and Travellator Upgrade and Maintenance

Some of you may have noticed In the Cove is not backward in coming forward about certain maintenance, cleanliness, and general housekeeping issues at Lane Cove Market Square (LCMS).

It would be fair to say, that there have been one or two (ITC says with tongue firmly planted in cheek) issues with Lane Cove Market Square.

Our roving reporters never fail us, every time the escalators stop working or the lift stays on the ground floor you know about it. You are there with your trusty camera phone ready to snap and send us the evidence. However, It got to the stage where we had to stop posting about LCMS. It was clogging up our newsfeed. (That’s not to say it wasn’t tempting to keep posting pictures as some of our roving reporters sent us some cracking shots and incredibly funny memes).

In the Cove finally contacted the CEO of Region Group, who is the Lane Cove Market Square Head Lessee and asked them to take action.

Lane Cove Market Square is owned by the Lane Cove Council and pursuant to a Strata Management Facility Agreement does have a say on what is happening at Lane Cove Market Square – however if you contact Lane Cove Council they always only refer you to the centre manager, even if you are making a high level complaint.

The Region Group met with In the Cove and explained that they did have some plans underway for the centre but it would need Lane Cove Council’s approval.

Under the Strata Mangement Agreement, Lane Cove Council is responsible for a significant proportion of any lift upgrade and maintenance costs.  Lane Cove Council has just released its annual budget papers and ITC cannot see any line item for costs associated with lift upgrades at LCMS.  The Travellators do not form part of the shared facilities arrangement and the Region Group will be responsible for upgrade costs.

Last Friday 12 April 2024, ITC met with the Region Group and Knigh Frank (the centre managers) and were told that Lift Upgrade and Maintenance Will take place very soon.

The following statement was released by Knight Frank:

Important Notice: Maintenance and Repairs at Lane Cove Market Square.

We would like to inform our valued customers that United Lifts, our new service provider, has commenced maintenance on the centre’s vertical transport systems. This partnership commenced at the end of last month and their contracted technician will ensure prompt attendance to any operational issues.

In addition, day-to-day operation maintenance has been identified and scheduled for immediate repairs. We are committed to major repairs for all vertical transport, including the 4 lifts, 4 travelators, and 2 escalators. Our team is working closely with the local council to ensure a smooth process.

These major works are expected to commence on Monday 22nd April and span approximately a 12-week period.

While we anticipate some minor disruptions during this time, rest assured that we will communicate transparently throughout the program of works.

We will provide alternate access options to help you move around the centre seamlessly.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we enhance the convenience of Lane Cove Market Square.
