Lane Cove Local Paulene Turner Releases More Books in her Time Travel Chronicles

Last year, we published a story about Lane Cove Local author Paulene Turner and her six-book Young Adult Time Travel series – The Time Travel Chronicles.  At the time of our article, she had released three books in the series.

Paulene has now released books four and five, and book Six will be out in November.

Each book takes them to a different historical period (all researched at length).

Book One:  Secrets of the Nile

Book Two: Revenge of the Black Night

Book Three:  Shoot Out at Death Canyon

Book Four:  Black Tides

Book Five: Samurai Steal 

Book Six: Point of Origin will be published in November 2024. It takes place 15 years in the future.

Paulene has written six books about 16-year-old Madison and Riley from Crows Nest High, who travel through history in a time machine in just under eighteen months. Their first trip is a choice. They go to Ancient Egypt, where they plan to observe but not interact with anyone. But when a local girl invites them to stay at her family home, they’re drawn into village dramas and can’t resist using their future knowledge to help. And the rest…is no longer history.

This is why they had to travel again to medieval England to fix some timeline issues. However, the fix still causes more problems with the space-time continuum. So they go on to the Wild West, the pirate era, Edo Japan and, finally, into the future, seeking that one moment in time—the Point of Origin of the problems—hoping that by changing that one thing, the ripple effect through time will unravel the strands of action and reaction and the world will be set back on the right course. That’s the theory, anyway. But will it happen? You’ll have to read six books to find out.

During their journey, Madison and Riley meet and fall for wonderful teenage characters from other times—knights, pirates, warriors—who deal with life, death, and injustice in their everyday lives. They take a little of each of those they meet to become a formidable pair by the end of the series.

(But just a hint…the finale may or may not take place at a high school graduation ball in Darling Harbour!)

 

Young Adult Time Travel

Time Travel books are popular (look at the success of Outlander). There haven’t been too many epic time travel series with Australian teens, but now there is one.  It’s a fast ride through some of the most exciting points in history, with humour and lashings of romance. The theme of all time travel tales is consequences.

About Paulene

Paulene spent over a decade writing this story, which took her over three years to edit to print standard with her own team of beta readers, structural editors, proofreaders, cover designers, and typesetters.

But in all those years tapping away, Paulene never imagined she would ever write THE END or get to see the books released into the world. Writing is a long game. It has been a marathon, not a sprint, but Paulene has loved every minute!

Paulene is a former journalist and mother of twin daughters who are great writers. One is a well-regarded journalist, and the other has won the Lane Cove Literary Award more than once.
