ANZAC Day falls on Saturday 25 April 2026, and across Lane Cove, locals will come together to remember and honour those who have served.
Here is your guide to what’s happening locally and how the day will run.
Quick Jump
Is there a Dawn Service in Lane Cove?
We get asked this a lot and the answer is no. A former RSL Sub-Branch president once explained that many local veterans prefer to attend the Dawn Service at the Sydney Cenotaph in the CBD, then return to Lane Cove for the local mid-morning service.
If you are looking for a Dawn Service on the north side of the bridge, there is one held at the North Sydney War Memorial.
Lane Cove ANZAC Day Service & March 2026
The ANZAC Day Service is held at the Canopy Stage.
After the ceremony, wreaths are placed at the Lane Cove War Memorial near the library, which remains an important place of remembrance.
Veterans, current service personnel, school groups and local organisations are all invited to take part.
Who organises the ANZAC Day event?
The Lane Cove RSL Sub-Branch and Lane Cove Council put a great deal of effort into the ceremony each year.
It is a true community event, and locals are encouraged to come along and pay their respects to those who served.
Planning Your Day
Where can I park?
You can park at The Canopy, Little Street Car Park, Harris Farm Car Park and Lane Cove Market Square car park.
Lane Cove Council encourages people to walk where possible, as demand for parking is very high due to the number of people attending the ceremony.
A heads up on Lane Cove Market Square. The lifts can be unreliable. Because Woolworths is closed, access via the travellators is cut off, and the lifts are not always programmed correctly.
Will poppies be sold?
Yes. Lane Cove Rotary will be selling handmade crocheted poppies on the day.
Will rosemary be available?
Lane Cove Council will also hand out rosemary sprigs and Orders of Service.
Rosemary is a traditional ANZAC Day symbol of remembrance. It grows wild on the Gallipoli Peninsula and has long been associated with honouring those who served.
Are there any other ceremonies in Lane Cove?
The Lane Cove Bowling Club holds its own ANZAC Ceremony at 11:30am.
The service includes an address, wreath laying, Ode of Remembrance, Last Post, one minute silence, The Rouse and the National Anthem.
Following the ceremony, the Club hosts Social Bowls & BBQ — $20 for Bowls & BBQ, or $5 BBQ only. Two-Up kicks off from 2pm
Location: 151 Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove

Lane Cove ANZAC Day Trading Hours
Closed all day
Large retailers including department stores, supermarkets and big fashion outlets. In Lane Cove this means Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Big W and similar are expected to stay closed all day.
Allowed to open
Chemists, newsagents, petrol stations, cafés, takeaway food outlets, pubs and licensed venues, and small shops (businesses with no more than 4 staff and 2 owners working) can trade as they choose.
Monday 27 April 2026 — a bonus public holiday
Because ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday this year, the NSW Government has added an extra public holiday on Monday 27 April 2026. The ANZAC Day trading restrictions do not apply to this Monday — shops can open as normal, with public holiday pay rates applying to staff. Source: NSW Small Business Commissioner.
Lane Cove always turns out in force for ANZAC Day, and it remains one of the most respectful and well-attended community events of the year.
