A Crêpe-Shaped Hole On Longueville Road: Four Frogs Lane Cove To Close

Four Frogs Crêperie Lane Cove

After eight years of galettes, crêpes and a little slice of Brittany on Longueville Road, Four Frogs Lane Cove will be closing its doors at the end of June.

The much-loved Lane Cove crêperie has been part of the local dining scene since it opened, serving up everything from after-school treats to family dinners, catch-ups with friends and those “I deserve a crêpe” moments we have all had at some point.

The news will leave a crêpe-shaped hole in Longueville Road for many regulars, but as the French would say — it is only an au revoir, not goodbye.

“The crêpes aren’t going anywhere, only the address is changing,” the Four Frogs team said in announcing the closure.

Fans can still find Four Frogs at Mosman, Randwick and Circular Quay, and the team has made it clear they have no intention of disappearing from Lane Cove life entirely.

From Opening Soon to Local Favourite

In the Cove first spotted Four Frogs Lane Cove back in March 2018, when the “Opening Soon” signs appeared in the windows on Longueville Road. Since then, the crêperie has become part of the rhythm of Lane Cove life.

Back in March 2018, In the Cove spotted the “Opening Soon” signs for Four Frogs Lane Cove on Longueville Road. Eight years later, the crêperie has become part of the local dining landscape.

Over the years, Four Frogs has popped up in our feeds for all the right reasons — from queues of locals lining up for free crêpes during its 10-year celebration in October 2023 to the occasional very stylish four-legged diner.

One of our favourite Four Frogs moments was Dog of the Day Red Boston Boz, who was dressed beautifully for the occasion while lunching with his owner at Four Frogs Crêperie. Très chic, Boz.

Four Frogs was even a popular stop for well-dressed locals of the four-legged variety. Meet Red Boston Boz, who dressed for the occasion when lunching with his owner at Four Frogs Lane Cove. You can follow him on Instagram at @red_boston_boz.

ITC’s Favourite Galette

For In the Cove founder Jacky Barker, the news hit very close to home.

“Where will I get my favourite galette from – La Tartiflette?” Jacky said. “I will have to go to Mosman or, shock horror, Circular Quay.”

Clearly, Jacky likes to stay local.

But we can understand why she likes the La Tartiflette Galette… let’s just say bacon, Swiss and raclette cheese, potato and onion slowly cooked in cider.

Au Revoir, Not Goodbye

Four Frogs has confirmed they hope to remain part of the Lane Cove community beyond the closure, with plans to continue participating in local events.

Fans hoping to see the familiar crêpes at the Lane Cove Fun Run or the Lane Cove Fair may be in luck, with the team asking to be kept in the loop on upcoming events and expressing a genuine desire to keep showing up for the community that has supported them for nearly a decade.

It is sad news for Lane Cove, but it is also a reminder of how many local memories can be wrapped up in one small restaurant — school holiday treats, family dinners, post-shopping pit stops, catch-ups with friends and, occasionally, a very well-dressed dog waiting patiently at the table.

Four Frogs may be flipping out of Longueville Road, but hopefully not out of Lane Cove life altogether.

October 2023: Locals lined up for free crêpes as Four Frogs celebrated 10 years of Four Frogs Crêperie. Lane Cove was clearly very happy to help mark the occasion.
