Singin’ in the Rain Comes to Riverview with Cast of Young Local Performers

There is something pretty special about seeing young local performers take to the stage… especially when the show is one of the most-loved movie musicals of all time.

This week, Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview will present its Junior Musical, Singin’ in the Rain, featuring students from Years 5, 6, 7 and 8 from Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview, Loreto Kirribilli, St Michael’s Lane Cove and Marist North Shore.

We have been told to expect big songs, plenty of dancing, classic Hollywood charm and, of course, that famous title number.

Described as “the greatest movie musical of all time”, Singin’ in the Rain is packed with hilarious moments, snappy dialogue and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards. It is also a great choice for families, with a run time of around 1 hour and 15 minutes long enough for a proper night at the theatre, but not so long that little ones start asking when the snacks are coming!

The show follows the fun and chaos of Hollywood’s transition from silent films to “talkies”, with plenty of laughs, romance and musical numbers along the way.

These productions take a huge amount of work behind the scenes from rehearsals and costumes to choreography, lighting, music and all the last-minute magic that somehow comes together on opening night.
