Police have confirmed an investigation is underway after a 9-year-old boy was struck by a marked police vehicle at St Leonards on Monday evening.
Officers from North Shore Police Area Command were responding to a fire at Wadanggari Park near Christie Street when the incident occurred about 7.20pm on 1 June 2026. As the marked police vehicle arrived at Pacific Highway near Christie Street, the child was struck.
Officers treated the boy immediately before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. He was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, in a stable condition.
The driver, a male senior constable, returned a negative roadside breath test.
A crime scene has been established and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
