Investigation Underway After Child Struck By Police Car

BREAKING: Police have confirmed an investigation is underway after a 12-year-old boy was struck by a marked police vehicle at St Leonards this evening.

NSW Police said officers were responding to a fire at a park near Christie Street about 7.20pm on Monday 1 June 2026.

When the marked police vehicle arrived at Pacific Highway, near Christie Street, the child was struck.

Police said officers treated the boy immediately before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. He was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick in a stable condition.

The driver, a male senior constable attached to North Shore Police Area Command, returned a negative roadside breath test.

A crime scene has been established and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
