Lane Cove Fun Run Returns – Sunday 13 September at Kingsford Smith Oval

The Lane Cove Fun Run is back on Sunday 13 September 2026 — and this year it marks a decade of the community coming together to run, walk and cheer. Ten years on from that first Father’s Day run in 2016, the event is shaping up to be bigger, better and more energetic than ever! Whether you’re sprinting, strolling or cheering from the sidelines, this is the local event that brings the whole community together.

The Lane Cove Fun Run is 100% organised by volunteers, and its sponsors are local businesses who believe in the importance of giving back to their community.

Ten years of the Fun Run

2026 marks ten years since the very first Lane Cove Fun Run, held on Father’s Day in September 2016. What began as a local fundraiser has grown into one of Lane Cove’s best-loved community traditions — organised entirely by volunteers, backed by local businesses, and powered by families lacing up year after year.

A decade on, the heart of the event hasn’t changed: get active, support local causes, and bring the whole community together for a morning of fun. Here’s to the next ten years!

When?

Sunday 13 September 2026.

• 5km walk or run: 7.30am
• 2km walk or run: 8.30am

You are encouraged to enter into the FUN of the event: dress up, get your kids to dress up and dress up those prams!

What is the route for the Lane Cove Fun Run?

Course route: 5km

The race is self-seeded, so competitors wishing to place need to position themselves at the front of the pack. It starts at 7.30am.

Course route: 2km

The race is self-seeded, so competitors wishing to place need to position themselves at the front of the pack in Wave 1. All walkers, strollers and families with dogs need to start in Wave 2, starting at 8.30am.

2026 registration fees

Early Bird (22 July to 2 August)

• Adult 5km or 2km: $32
• Adult bundle: $42
• Child (under 16): $22 single / $32 bundle
• Family discount: $10 off for each child after the first.

Regular (3 August to 5 September)

• Adult single: $41 / bundle: $51
• Child single: $31 / bundle: $41
• Family discount: $12 off for each child after the first.

Late Entry (6 to 13 September)

• Adult single: $50 / bundle: $60
• Child single: $40 / bundle: $50
• Family discount: $15 off for each child after the first.

The Inter-School Competition

Primary and secondary school students are invited to compete for the prestigious Lane Cove Fun Run Inter-School Competition, proudly sponsored by Captain Cook Cruises, serving the Lane Cove community with fast, smooth and scenic ferry services Monday to Friday.

Make sure to list your child’s correct school, school year and age when registering. It ensures their time counts toward their school’s team total!

What if I don’t run?

The Lane Cove Fun Run is for everyone. You can run or walk the 2km or 5km course, cheer on family and friends, or simply join us at Kingsford Smith Oval for an inclusive morning of food, activities, stalls and community fun.

You don’t need to take part in the race to enjoy the event. However, you are also welcome to register as a virtual runner if you would like to make a financial contribution and support our charity partner, Sydney Community Services.

What happens after I finish the run?

The fun doesn’t finish at the finish line. Stick around at Kingsford Smith Oval and enjoy the Lane Cove Fun Run Event Village with family, friends and the wider community.

Grab a sausage from the barbecue or a coffee, browse the community stalls, join in the activities, have a kick of the footy and cheer on runners as they cross the line. Stay for the awards presentations and help us celebrate the achievements of runners of all ages.

This year, discover Kids Market Street: a marketplace run by local school kids selling their own arts and crafts, handmade goods, treats and creative creations.

Whether you’re running, supporting someone or simply joining us for the morning, there’s something for everyone and everyone is welcome!

Road closures

The organisers of the Lane Cove Fun Run thank all local residents for their patience, understanding and support during our community event.

Due to road closures, the organisers encourage participants to cycle, walk or scooter from Northwood, Riverview or Lane Cove.

Please respect the needs of the residents of Longueville and do not try to find a parking space in Longueville, particularly along William Edward Street, which becomes blocked to two-way traffic if cars are parked in both directions.

Plenty of public parking is available at council car parks in the Lane Cove shops and along Longueville Road north of River Road. From there, it is an easy downhill walk to the start of the race.

For the safety of runners, there will be full and partial road closures along the entire route of the 2km and 5km events.
