Get ready to party like it’s 1989. The Lane Cove Theatre Company is taking audiences back to the big-haired, shoulder-padded era with After Dinner, a knockout comedy from master playwright Andrew Bovell (The Secret River, Things I Know To Be True).

Set in a 1980s pub bistro, After Dinner follows five eccentric lonely hearts over the course of one very telling Friday night. It’s a poignant and hilarious collision of singles, sex, friendship and after-work drinks.
Paula, Dympie and Monika are, in the words of Roxette (Sweden’s greatest export), “dressed for success”. Primped, preened and ready to rumble, they are up for anything and, perhaps, anyone. Everyone, that is, except Stephen and Gordon, the alpha male and nerdy no-hoper at the table next to them.
Over the course of the night, bad dance moves are on display, friendships are tested and the map of the human heart is crisscrossed.
Directed by Lane Cove Theatre Company veteran Andrew Castle, After Dinner will leave you rolling in the aisles.
