Planning an end-of-year function or Christmas party? There’s a brand new Lane Cove venue you can now add to the list, even before it officially opens.
Galuwa Dining is now taking bookings for end-of-year functions, with the new restaurant, café, bar and events venue getting closer to opening inside the Galuwa Recreation Centre at 180 River Road, Lane Cove.
And if you’re the person who always gets lumped with organising the work Christmas party, you’ll know it pays to get in early. Lane Cove venues get VERY busy once end-of-year celebrations kick off.
Combined, the spaces will be able to accommodate up to 500 guests, making it one of the largest and most flexible function venues on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
So, When Does Galuwa Dining Open?
The venue itself is expected to open in Spring 2026, although an official opening date hasn’t been announced just yet.
Construction is progressing and Galuwa Dining is really starting to take shape within the new Galuwa Recreation Centre, overlooking Lane Cove Golf Course.
From the same team behind Luso Kitchen at The Diddy and their other hospitality venues, Galuwa Dining will include a restaurant, café, bar, coffee and grab-and-go offering and indoor-outdoor dining overlooking the golf course.
And we’re pretty excited about this one.

Sport Done, Dinner Sorted
It’s the location that we think is going to make Galuwa Dining particularly handy for locals.
If you’re already heading to Galuwa Recreation Centre for basketball, netball, pickleball or one of the many other activities happening there (whether it’s you playing, the kids playing or a bit of both), having somewhere right there to grab a coffee, lunch, dinner or a drink is going to be SO convenient.
For parents doing the seemingly endless sport drop-offs, pick-ups, training sessions and games in particular, this could make life just that little bit easier.
Rather than dropping the kids off, heading home and turning around to come back again, there’ll be the option of staying at Galuwa, grabbing something to eat or drink and enjoying the indoor-outdoor space overlooking the golf course.
Sport done, dinner sorted. 🙌
Once the whole space is open and operating, we think this precinct is going to be a bit of a game changer for Lane Cove.
More Than a Restaurant
Alongside the main restaurant, Galuwa Dining will have a bar, providing somewhere for drinks with friends, a pre-dinner cocktail or an after-work catch-up overlooking the golf course.
There will also be a coffee and grab-and-go offering with quality coffee, light meals and snacks aimed particularly at people using the recreation centre.
So you won’t need to be sitting down for a full restaurant meal to make use of the venue. Grab a coffee before a game, pick up something quick afterwards or catch up with friends while the kids are playing.
Functions for Up to 500 Guests
One of the biggest elements of Galuwa Dining, and something you may not realise from looking at the building, is just how substantial its function offering will be.
Operable walls mean the event spaces can be split into smaller rooms for private functions and meetings, or opened right up into one venue for 500 guests. There’s also The Lookout, a mezzanine-level space suspended above the courts with its own verandah, which sounds like a pretty good spot to watch a game with a drink in hand.

Smaller groups can also book tables within the restaurant itself for team dinners, birthdays, family celebrations and memorial gatherings, without needing a whole function space.
And importantly for anyone currently staring down the barrel of organising Christmas 2026, you don’t have to wait until the restaurant opens to book.
Food packages start at $25 per person for a grazing board and run up to $85 per person for a three-course seated menu, with canapés from $48 per person, shared dining at $50 per person and buffets from $60 per person. Conference delegate packages are $60 per person for a half day and $90 for a full day. Beverage packages are $20, $85 or $110 per person over three hours, or you can run a bar tab.
A few are worth knowing about locally: a sporting package at $36 per person for as few as 12 people, handy for presentation nights, a memorial package at $35 per person, and children’s birthday packages from $16 per person.
Most packages carry a minimum guest number, and venue hire and minimum spend vary by space, date and numbers, so you’ll need to contact the team for a tailored proposal. Seven days’ notice applies to all packages. Prices are correct at the time of publishing.
