Most of us have one… that list of jobs around the house that we keep meaning to get around to. The wall that needs painting, the skirting board that needs repairing, shelves that still haven’t been hung, a door that doesn’t quite close properly or a few maintenance jobs that have somehow been sitting on the list for months.
The problem is that finding someone willing and able to tackle all those different jobs isn’t always easy.
That’s where VDC Home Improvements comes in.
Meet Vincenzo
VDC Home Improvements is run by Vincenzo Di Costanzo, who is originally from Italy and is now based in Sydney.
Vincenzo has always enjoyed hands-on work and says taking pride in the finished result is a big part of how he approaches every job.
Before starting his own business, Vincenzo spent around nine years working alongside a builder, gaining experience across a wide range of building, maintenance and home improvement work.
Eventually, he decided it was time to take that experience and build something of his own.
“After working with a builder for around nine years, I decided it was time to take the next step, start working for myself and build my own business,” Vincenzo said.
VDC Home Improvements was born.
More Than Just a Handyman
One of the advantages of Vincenzo’s broad experience is that customers don’t necessarily need to find several different people to tackle a collection of jobs.
VDC Home Improvements provides services including:
- Interior and exterior painting
- Handyman work
- Property maintenance
- Home repairs
- Carpentry
- Renovations
- General home improvements
That can mean anything from painting a room or refreshing the exterior of a home to repairing damaged timber, installing shelves, fixing skirting boards or tackling the collection of smaller maintenance jobs that have been steadily accumulating.
For Vincenzo, problem-solving is an important part of the job.
“I really care about the quality of my work and making sure my customers are happy,” he said.
“I try to be reliable, honest, easy to deal with and always find a solution.”
Building a Business on Word of Mouth
For a local tradesperson, there probably isn’t a better compliment than a customer asking you to come back.
A large proportion of Vincenzo’s work now comes from repeat customers and word-of-mouth recommendations, something he says he is particularly proud of.
And his reviews on the In the Cove Business Directory tell a similar story.
Customers have praised Vincenzo for his attention to detail, punctuality, communication and the care he takes while working in their homes. Several reviewers mention using him again for additional jobs, while others highlight his willingness to take on a variety of repairs and maintenance tasks.
One recurring theme is also something anyone who has had work done at home will appreciate: he cleans up after himself.
Vincenzo says that reputation is something he wants to maintain as VDC Home Improvements continues to grow.
“A lot of my work now comes from repeat customers and word of mouth, which is something I’m very proud of.”
