For one evening, The Gallery’s four working studios (ceramics, painting and drawing, printmaking and textiles) will be thrown open to the public, free of charge and with no bookings required.

Visitors can watch the new pottery wheels in action in the ceramics studio and have a go themselves, join a hands-on activity in the art studio, see printmakers at work and browse student pieces and equipment in the textiles room. The gallery’s artists in residence will also open their studios for the evening.

A pop-up shop in the foyer will sell original, affordable works by GLC+CS students and studio hirers, ceramics, drawings, paintings, prints, candles and kids’ art packs among them, priced from $20 upwards. Open 5pm–8pm alongside both events, it’s an easy stop to pick up a gift or a treat for yourself, whether you’re heading into the studios or across to the Art Award opening at 6pm.

Potters at work, Artist in Residence, Art for sale in the pop up market.

Children and families are welcome throughout. With the spring school holidays approaching the evening is also an easy way for families and newcomers to see what the studios offer before Term 4 and holiday workshop bookings lock in.
