Prices are up everywhere. Except, it seems, at Porters Liquor Northwood.

The Leckie Dozen is back for 2026 and Porters says it’s the same price it has been for the last 23 years. It’s a carefully chosen case of 12 Australian reds that the team rates among the best quality and value being made today.

“No we have not made the bottles smaller! No we have not dropped the quality or standard of wine.”

Market forces have helped, with winemakers selling top quality wine at very reasonable prices. Every wine in this year’s dozen is rated over 95/100 in James Halliday’s Wine Companion.

Lighter, Cool Climate and Ready to Drink

Plenty of wine lovers are now reaching for lighter, early drinking varieties from cool climate regions. The Porters team agrees. This year’s mix takes in the Yarra Valley, King Valley, Beechworth, the Bellarine Peninsula, Blewitt Springs and Canberra, alongside McLaren Vale, Margaret River and the Hunter Valley.

Every wine has been tried by the team. They’re all drinking beautifully right now, though you can cellar them for a few years if you like.

The Standouts

The aged pick is the 2013 Penfolds Bin 389, the Cabernet Shiraz known as “Baby Grange”. It’s maturing well and drinking beautifully right now.

Then there’s the Serafino Reserve Grenache 2023 from Blewitt Springs. It has won a trophy and nine gold medals, including one at the 2025 National Wine Show.
