Head spas began in Japanese hair salons in the early 2000s. Korea took the idea and turned it into a full ritual, with scalp checks, steam, massage, the waterfall rinse and LED light. It has become one of the must-do experiences for visitors to Seoul, and bookings for Korean scalp care on one travel platform more than tripled in a year. Social media did the rest.
Sydney has well and truly caught on, with head spas popping up across the city. No flight to Seoul required.

- Rebalance Ritual: 50 minutes, $119. The salon’s most popular option.
- Ultimate Scalp & Hair Renewal Spa: 90 minutes, $230. The longest and most indulgent of the three.
Booking colour or another chemical service? K Avenue is currently offering a free scalp treatment with chemical services such as colour, perms and smoothing.

K Avenue is run by director Euna Lee, who brings Korean hairstyling expertise and years of experience in the industry. Every appointment starts with a consultation. The aim is to understand your hair, your style and how much time you really spend on it in the morning. Then you walk out with a look you can manage at home.
Services cover women’s, men’s and kids’ cuts, blow-dries and styling, colour, foils, balayage, Korean-style perms and smoothing treatments including keratin and permanent straightening. Kids are welcome too, right down to neat braids for little ones.
