No more BYOD laptops for NSW public primary schools from 2027

State & Federal News news brief

Lower North Shore families with kids at public primary schools can cross a school laptop off the Christmas list. The NSW Government is ending “bring your own device” requirements at all public primary schools from 2027.

At public high schools BYOD stays voluntary. Schools must offer alternatives for students without a device.

There will be no screen-based homework before Year 5. Children at Kindergarten orientation at public schools will also get free books from 2027.
