Lane Cove Christmas and New Years Day Trading Hours 2023

For those staying In the Cove over Christmas, we’ve trawled the local businesses to find out who will be open on Christmas Day and/or Boxing Day. So if you NEED a coffee on Christmas or New Year’s Day Morning (and who doesn’t!?) or you’re all out of a vital ingredient for post-Christmas baking, we’ve got the intel here with our list of trading hours.

Some local takeaway shops will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, so if you are really keen on picking up some tucker from those shops, don’t leave it until the last minute.

We have done our best to ensure the information below is accurate. However, plans do change, so if you are really keen on a particular place, give them a call to check.

Petrol, Convenience Stores, Booze and Yikes I have Locked Myself Out

If you need Petrol and Convenience Store items on Christmas Day/New Year’s Day, Jack & Co is open.  You can buy petrol, coffee, ice, snack food and all those essential ingredients you forgot to get for that secret Christmas dish.   They are located in Northwood and Burns Bay Road and have stocked up on ice for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Centro Lane Cove West is open throughout the Christmas Season and New Year – it is worth checking them out as they have an extensive range of fresh food, meat and grocery items, and if you are looking for a present for a homesick US, Brazillian, Asian friend they have a big range of foods from overseas to try.  Find out more about Centro here.

Dan Murphy’s The Cellar, located on 231 Burns Bay Road, is closed on Christmas Day only.

If you lock yourself out of your house or you need a replacement lock urgently – Alert Locksmiths and Security operate their emergency service 24 Hours a Day/7 Days a Week.

I need a Doctor or a Vet

If you need a Doctor on public holidays, Wise Medical Clinic in Macquarie Park is a private billing emergency clinic, and they are open 10 am-10 pm 7 days a week.

For your Furry family members needing a vet, North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Artarmon is open 24/7 for emergencies only or SASH in Ryde.

If it is during business hours on Wednesday, 27th, 28th and 29th December 2023, our friends at Figtree Veterinary Clinic are open.

Lane Cove Council Emergency Issues

The Lane Cove Council offices will be closed from Friday, 22 December 2023, 12:30 pm to Monday, 1 January 2024 and will re-open on Tuesday, 2 January 2024, at 9:00 am.

In case of Council emergencies, call 9911 3555, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What’s On Christmas Day?

The Lane Cove Newsagency will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will only be open on New Year’s Day morning.

Lane Cove Aquatic Centre’s indoor and outdoor pools – will be open every day except for Christmas Day.  For a complete list of their opening hours click here.

Greenwich Baths will be open during the holiday season except for Christmas Day.  They are open from 7 am to 8 pm except for New Years Eve where they will close early at 4pm.

Council and Waste Information

If you are Cleaning Up over the Christmas and New Year Period…

Many people clean up between the Christmas and New Year holidays. The local op shops and recycling centre are closed until the new year – do not dump.  If you would like to find out how to correctly dispose of or recycle an item, read our article here.

Lane Cove Library

If possible, the Library staff have requested that you please do not return books on public holidays (the books stack up as the staff are not there to process the returns as they come in). Library items are not due during the period from Christmas to 5 January 2021.
