A transport option for local residents is a ferry from Lane Cove to the city. It services an area in the Lane Cove Council area that is not well serviced by frequent buses.
A Lane Cove Ferry to the city has been operating for years. School kids have also used the Ferry for a long time.
It is a great option for people who work around Circular Quay, Macquarie Street, Martin Place or the northern side of the CBD. The ferry also is used extensively by school kids travelling to Riverview and other North Shore Schools.
Captain Cook Cruises ferry operates from Lane Cove into the city on weekdays in the morning and from the city to Lane Cove in the afternoons. The ferry departs from several Lane Cove Council area wharves including:
– Longueville Wharf
– Northwood Wharf
– Greenwich – Bay Street Wharf
– Greenwich Point Wharf
Announcement
This week commuters have been handed a letter from Captain Cook Cruises stating that the ferry service will terminate on the 18th December 2020 (the last day of school).
St Ignatius College Riverview advised parents and students of the closure and released the following announcement:
ITC has been inundated with people asking us to raise awareness of this issue. We have been working with Anthony Roberts office on this issue.
Anthony Robert released the following statement on his Facebook page today.
Next Step
ITC is monitoring this situation and if the talks between Anthony Roberts and Minister Constance do not result in the Ferry being saved, we will let you know how you can help Save our Ferry.
ITC likes taking the Ferry if we have to go into the city for a meeting (which has not happened in 2020)
