More Information
Part-Time Advertising & Partnerships Coordinator
Work from home | Approx. 5 hours per week
If you’re seeing this, you probably already know In the Cove… so we’ll skip the intro 😊
What you might not realise is that we’re primarily funded by local businesses, with a little extra support from readers who choose to chip in and show their appreciation for what we do. We also receive support and advocacy through the Local & Independent News Association (LINA), which champions independent publishers like us.
As we grow and with some big plans for the year ahead, we need to be more consistent on the business side to support everything else we do.
That’s where this role comes in.
The Role
This is a flexible, part-time role of approximately 5 hours per week, ideally spread across 2–3 days.
To start with, the focus is simple: converting existing interest into confirmed bookings.
Day to day, that includes:
- Following up warm leads and enquiries
- Reconnecting with past and current advertisers
- Getting on the phone and having conversations with local businesses
- Understanding business needs and recommending suitable advertising options
- Helping get campaigns over the line
- Working with the broader team to shape bespoke packages where needed
At its core, this is a relationship-focused sales role with warm leads, strong support and plenty of flexibility.
How the Role Can Grow
Once you’re comfortable, there’s opportunity for the role to expand into a broader advertiser management position, including:
- Ongoing advertiser relationships
- Coordinating campaigns and placements
- Ensuring advertisers receive everything included in their plans
- Supporting renewals and longer-term partnerships
- Helping manage advertiser entitlements and keeping campaigns on track
There is also scope for the role to grow into areas of campaign coordination and social media support over time.
How It Works
- 100% work from home
- Flexible hours worked around your schedule
- Some availability during business hours is helpful for calls and follow-up
- Occasional in-person meetings may be useful, but are not essential
There’s a lot of autonomy in this role, with support from a small, experienced team.
Who This Might Suit
This role could suit someone who:
- Lives locally or close to Lane Cove / the Lower North Shore
- Is confident speaking with business owners and picking up the phone
- Has strong communication skills and knows how to build rapport
- Is organised, proactive and comfortable working independently
- Has a general understanding of social media and how businesses use it
- Is comfortable learning new systems and following simple internal processes
You do not need to come from a formal sales background, but you should be someone who enjoys talking to people, can think commercially and has the confidence to help convert interest into action.
If you already have some experience in advertising, social media, client service or small business, that’s a bonus. If not, we’re happy to support the right person to build those skills over time.
This role could suit someone at any age or stage, whether you’re returning to work, running your own business, taking a career break, or simply looking for a flexible role where you can use your people skills and stay connected to the local community.
The Bigger Picture
This role directly supports the sustainability of independent local news.
We’re a very small team. We all juggle a lot and wear many hats, but we support each other, genuinely care about what we’re building and tend to keep people for a long time.
There is room for this role to grow in both hours and responsibility as we grow.
Important Bits
- Approx. 5 hours per week
- 3-month role initially, with potential to continue
- Part-time or contract arrangement, to be discussed
- KPIs included, with incentives or bonuses for strong results
- Potential for increased hours over time
