Volunteer role. Around 3 hours a month. Chatswood.
Roses in the Ocean runs Safe Space Chatswood. It's a welcoming, non-clinical space where people in distress can connect with trained peers who have their own lived experience of suicide.
Volunteer Peer CARE Companions offer a listening ear, conversation and practical support. That might mean sitting with someone for a chat, helping them find other support or simply being alongside them for a while.
This role is for people with a lived experience of suicide. That includes having had thoughts of suicide, a suicide attempt, supporting a loved one through a crisis or losing someone to suicide.
What's involved:
- Around one session a month alongside other trained peers, on a flexible roster
- Full training: workshops, online modules and a service induction
- Ongoing support, debriefing and reflection sessions
A National Police Check and Working with Children Check are required.
