Let’s Go Bug Hunting: Christmas Beetle Edition

Lane Cove Council’s popular bug hunt goes festive on Saturday 5 December from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Lane Cove Community Nursery in Lane Cove West.

Families will search leaf litter and bushland for creepy crawlies and keep a special eye out for Christmas beetles. Sightings go into the Christmas Beetle Count, a citizen science project tracking these much-loved summer insects, which have become harder to find in Sydney. Council supplies all the equipment.

The session suits ages 5 and up and every adult and child needs a ticket. It is free but places are capped at eight, so book early.
